Because of Barnhart? I think Chavis gets a call before those two.

I'd take Chavis in a freaking heart beat.
Thing is, Kragthorpe would probably come with him as the OC.
Brent Pease is the sleeper here.

Chavis would be a disaster as a HC. UK needs someone who can recruit.

I guess I'm the only who thinks Dykes is the wrong direction. Mumme 2.0 won't win me back, nor will it win football games in the SEC.

Why would Dykes go to Kentucky? It's a bad job. I'm not trying to be a dick, but it really is just a bad job.

He has ties to Kentucky. Was on staff twice as a position coach. Has a degree from UK. If he jumps at the very least he knows what he's getting into.

A bad job in the SEC is better than a good job in whatever conference they are in. Plus your salary doubles.

Lulz, why did Franklin take the Vandy job?
Because it is a job in a major football conference.

I think Chavis or Smart is the correct move but there is no incentive to get them here
If I were to go outside the box I think you look for an older guy from the NFL who had experience with a defense oriented team. Not saying Bill Cowher per se but someone along that line. Saban came from the pros and Miles did a stint in the NFL too. Kids today in the SEC are in the SEC because they want a shot to play on Sundays. How many current SEC coaches have no NFL experience?
Cowher is 55 now and his wife's death in 2010 has given him time to grieve. She was a pro basketball player and the upswing of UK's women's program may appeal to him.

I like Pease a lot, but our offense is ranked 102. Doesn't seem like something that would excite most Kentucky fans.

Bad for the rest of the SEC. Only thing worse would be Bobby at Texas. That would be bad for all of college football. Can you imagine Petrino with that talent?

why don't you guys just hire chad morris

You're out of your damn mind if you think Bill Cowher or anyone of his prestige is going to walk through that Kentucky door to coach football.
On another note, Joker's statement shows what type of coach I had believed him to be.. a class act. Hope he lands on his feet elsewhere.

Are you saying the mistresses in Texas are more talented than the ones in Arkansas?

I was using him as an example of an older guy from the pros with an ability to establish a solid defense.
If UK is going to go young they will go with some offensive guy that is gone in 4 years after his career is shot. Sure Sonny Dykes is about in his early 40's but so was Mumme and that did not work out so well. If they were going to go young I would go to the other side of the ball and look at who is up and coming on that side of the ball.
I think the DC at Notre Dame is a young guy and he has shown he can get the Irish to build a solid D to become competitive. At least if they let him go in 4 years he will leave a stronger defense for the next guy to inherit. After Hal left look at how many years it took just to get back to a centered spot.

Kentucky had no choice. I hate it for you guys because I know Joker would have stayed there as long as youd let him.
Kentucky needs someone who has proven himself as a head coach. Coordinators will love to get their hands on a head coaching job in the SEC, but coordinators also have growing pains to deal with.
Someone with a proven track record like Tubby, Tommy Bowden, Ron Zook, or Cutcliffe would be best for Kentucky to stabilize the program.
