Sorry, I couldn't watch it. I didn't watch the one about AU/UAt because I knew they would make us look like backwood tards, and I figured they would do the same to Ole Miss.

It wasn't needed. They could have left it at Ole Miss finally having their first black ASB president and that great progress had been made. But they had to let people know there are still ghosts of the past lingering.
Your problem should be with the ghosts lingering not something bringing that to light.

And a history lesson few know. Who was the last all white national championship football team?
None other than DKR's University of Texas at Austin 1963 Longhorns.
Wouldn't that be Alabama in 1965? Alabama won the AP and UPI title in 1964 and the AP title in 1965.

It wasn't like that. Just stated facts about what happened. Only part that was unnecessary was our ASB President talking about someone yelling a racial slur at her.

It wasnt nearly the level of Updyke embarrassment, but there were a few parts where I mildly cringed

If it was a group of people harassing her and yelling racial slurs at her, then I can see why they would put it in there. It was one person though. Racial slurs are yelled at people every day on every campus in America.
It wasn't needed.

quote:They didn't play each other. That's one of the reasons the old SWC and SEC played so many intersectional games. Places like Texas A&M and Rice couldn't play teams with blacks in the late 50's and early 60's so the two conferences played a lot of non conference games.
How did the segregated SEC fare against other integrated teams back then?
I believe it was UGA that played Michigan that was the first time I remember anyone south of the Mason going north to play and that was probably 1970??

Yeah, I think the chick was kind of just toting herself as well.
"They called me a racial slur, and I was too above it to get mad or respond negatively".
Give me a break

Maybe because he was strolling through with a full camera crew? How the frick is he a carpetbagger just because he went to school in Missouri? And if you really want to get technical, his college state that we're basing the moniker on fought on both sides of the War.
I bet the retards don't even know Mizzou's band use to play DIXIE at football games. Can we name all the schools band that played DIXIE?? Well Mizzou is one of them. I think they stopped playing it in the 70's.

Yeah, there's some truth to that.
It was there to serve a point. Just like the south in general, Ole Miss shouldn't be judged by the few racists still wondering around. They don't represent the south.

Just looked it up, it was 1965 and Georgia won easily, thought that was an awful Michigan team that finished 4-6.

That makes sense because I can't find any instances where a segregated SEC team even played an integrated team. Were the SEC teams even allowed to play against an integrated team? I don't think Pistol Pete ever played against a black player in college.
5 months and one week after the events described in this documentary transpired:
No, we were not "allowed" to play integrated teams at the time... Game of Change

correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't y'all have to change the lyrics to "Hotty Toddy"?

I don't know that to be true or not, but my Ole Miss roots don't run nearly as deep as some others on here. They would be better to answer this question.

I don't think so. Only people that change the words of Hotty Toddy are kids who don't say swear words or the hardcore Christians who think saying "hell" and "damn" is sinful.
