A few things I've heard...
The decision has been made on Chizik. He's gone.
Jimbo Fisher is their top candidate.
Bobby Petrino and Charlie Strong are the other 2 serious candidates. They believe they can get these 2 on the somewhat cheap so they can make up for some of that 7.5 mill.
Some recruiting news. I haven't been able to confirm this with more than 1 person, but I've heard Trooper is officially done on the recruiting trail. He's not allowed to go on the road. The NCAA is all over him. Has he been going out to games, etc, AU fans?

I heard it's just a cost-saving move. Chizik has plans for a whole mouth full of veneers.

Petrino would be win/win for the state of Alabama. Auburn would get a very good coach, and Bama fans would get a lot of very good joke material.

I heard from an AU guy here in BR last week that Trooper's egg-timer had already gone off in that department.
