Harvey Updike is an idiot, what he did was stupid and criminal, and he deserves what punishment the law will allow for destruction of property. No doubt about that, and the vast majority of Alabama fans either can't stand the guy or don't give him a second thought.
But it's clear that some Auburn fans are in some sick way glad he did what he did for the sole reason that it gives them something with which to try and disparage Alabama and feel some source of superiority while their football team continues to sputter. I am pretty sure some Auburn fans would rather lose the trees and have Updyke in their arsenal to use to try and make fun of Alabama than vice versa.

I'd admit there are probably a few...not as many as there are bama fans that are glad he did it for the obvious reasons, but i'm sure you're right to a degree.
