With the "new" SEC, do you see this happening in the future? I HATE Atlanta more than any city in the country. Atlanta has NO CULTURE. I had more fun in Omaha when I went for the College World Series. I went to the SECCG only once in 2001 when Rohan came off the bench and we ended Tennessee's plans to go to the National Championship game, and I figured then it would never get better than that. It has not. The only way attending this game ever again will ever become appealing to me is if they began to rotate it. I never understood why they did not before----like the Big 12 did in the past I saw no reason why they could not at least rotate it between Atlanta, New Orleans and Nashville. Maybe Tampa or Jacksonville (a bit of a stretch) becuase of their proximity to UF. Now, it seems like they could definitely do Houston too because of proximity to Texas A&M. St. Louis may be a stretch (but I would go to that city any day of the week before Atlanta).

In any event, please explain to me why or why not the SEC could do this going forward. Thank you

You kidding me? We still have constants and Mike Slive is going to have us play aTm on Thursday night. That clown isn't changing the venue of the SECCG.

Every time I visit, it seems as if Atlanta has a disproportionately high population of angry black people.

It will not rotate. Atlanta is closer to more SEC schools than Dallas or Houston or St. Louis.

The city is finalizing plans for a new, retractable roof stadium for the Falcons. That game ain't goin nowhere. And yes, there are a lot of angry blacks here. Sorta goes with the territory of southern cities. Don't you watch "The First 48"?

New Orleans isn't too close to BR?

It's not going to happen.

Atlanta is the media hub for the conference.

Atlanta is a short trip for the SEC higherups from Birmingham.

It has some semblance of a neutral site (not really but kind of)

You can fly into Atlanta non-stop from practically anywhere

It is the most financially successful conference championship game. No one wants to chance screwing that up.

A new $950 million facility is on the horizon.

I'd say the chances of the game leaving Atlanta anytime soon is somewhere between 0 and -1.

If the SECCG ever DOES rotate, New Orleans will absolutely not be in the mix.

I think there are problems - I like it in Atlanta because it is no team's home city - New Orleans would fit that bill, as would Jacksonville or Tampa (and they all have pro stadiums). Nashville is home to Vandy, but, hey, it is Vandy.

What about Dallas? Now that a Texas team is in the league, that is a great venue. What about Memphis? Is there a stadium that could host it in Charleston?

I would like it to rotate through all of the states of the conference except Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas (because there is no reason for outsiders to ever want to go there).

Damnit almost made it all offseason without this thread started by an LSU fan. And yes, I know not all LSU fans want the game "rotated," but every time the idea of rotating a championship venue comes up, the thread is inevitably started by an LSU fan and New Orleans is the first alternative.

Atlanta is fine. The SECCG is a great event and Atlanta is a great host for it. It ain't broke, don't fix it.

I don't think New Orleans will get a bid at this because they already host the Sugar Bowl which has a tie-in with the SEC.

IF the SEC was to ever rotate (I like the game played in Atlanta) I would support going to the Pac-12 model of the higher ranked team hosting the game.

I would love to see the SECCG and the baseball tourny rotate between other. I am completely biased but think New Orleans would be a great option for both(well Metairie for baseball).
I certainly wouldn't be holding my breath for any of that though.
Houston I think would be another good option for football, and Memphis for baseball

There's also the whole "If we move the game out of Atlanta, even on rotation, the ACC will swoop in and take the Georgia Dome."

The ACC would do ANYTHING to play their game in Atlanta.
