Via recruiting site rankings? Maybe. But the painful fact of Tuberville recruiting classes is that a vast majority of them never showed up on campus.

But now, after all these years of being told that we are "lil bro" and preached about Bama's greatness and pinnacle position in the SEC, I am now told that it is just as easy to recruit at lil ol' Auburn as it is to mighty Alabama.

Well, I'll be doggone.

How so? It's well noted that Tubs didn't recruit very well his last couple years at AU. Why should Chizik give guys that aren't SEC quality playing time over guys who are? He maximized the talent he had, which is exactly what I would want him to do. Get that MNC which automaatically grants you a couple down years and develop your own talent.

He played hardly any redshirts in 2010. In comparison, Bama had 16 freshmen starters in 2008. Depth was established quickly in one instance, not so much in the other. Seems playing some his 2nd year would have benefitted going into his 4th year now and in his 3rd as well.

No ITAT here. Is Chizik as good of a coach as Saban? No. Is Chizik the same type of coach as Saban? No. Chizik is cut from the same cloth as Tubs and Mack Brown, etc. He is a CEO that hires people to do a job. He will flourish or crash and burn based on those hires.

You've always been a level headed poster. Never have a fear of me calling you an ITATer.

Totally agree. Stallings was much the same way. When you get the right guys under you, you're gonna look like a genius to everyone.

If I remember correctly, and I think I do... we were in nailbiters week in and week out. If you were coaching, would you throw in redshirt freshmen in those circumstances, or would you keep your experienced upper classmen in as much as possible? Especially when it gets to the point where you realize you may play for the National Championship..

I made mention of that point, when it became obvious Au was in contention for the title and a valid argument at that point. And you are right. I think Au came from behind in 8 games that season. I can see where it would be difficult to put some freshmen in, but in the same breath, I would have thought there were spots that some experience could have been gained for the future as well.

Exactly. I'm sure he would have loved to put the younger guys in but when you're having to come from behind in every game it's easier said than done.

just throwing an unbiased opinion in here. I think Auburn can go 8-4 this year.

Don't they have 16 starters returning?

I think they will end up with an upset win but will also lose to somebody that they should not. I could see them beating Clemson, that team just doesn't do anything for me, sorry. The other possibility is upsetting Arkansas at home. Tyler Wilson is a bad arse QB but I wonder how that team will do with John L. Williams as their coach instead of Petrino.

I don't see Au winning less than 8. I think this is a very solid number for them this year, perhaps 9. 7 would be a shock to me. I think 10 would happen before 7 would, personally.

I don't know how many AU will win - but I do believe we're solid enough all around that with a couple of potential break out stars (mainly QB in this offense and DE (both)) then they could win all of their games. Don't doubt Chizik - and not to mention I think AU has more undefeated seasons than most.

Tubs got lazy, frustrated and had some personal issues to deal with. The 2010 senior class was deep and strong, but the two classes behind that were weak.

The d-line will be the biggest improvement this year which will pay huge dividends for the Defense. Smash mouth football is coming back to Auburn which also helps the defense and will minimize the probability for blowout loses, Auburn always gets lucky and wins tbe close games. The refs will help us against Arkie and LSU. 9-3 in the SEC is a good season, 8-5 is not acceptable. I am going with 11-1.

Since the SEC split into separate divisions in 1992, Bama has averaged 7.25 wins per season.

Auburn has averaged 8.45.

How many more years of Saban will it take to finally get Bama over the 8 games per year average?

I count 175 wins for Bama over that 20 year period which comes to 8.75 wins per year. They may not all be recognized by the NCAA but I celebrated them all the same.

8-5 is not acceptable, and 11-1 is what you expect? Awesome.
