Meh, it's not really a "shot", it's true. He's just speaking fact. I don't see any reason a UGA fan should get disgruntled with this.

The comment on Georgia was good, but this one is pretty stupid.

Yeah, not really bothered by it. UGA suspends it athletes. USC puts 'em up in nice hotels...Methinks Spurrier is going to need to be worried about what the NCAA is going to meter out. SOCar is exactly the kind of program the NCAA likes to completely screw- recognizable, but not so big to CFB overall they can't touch them with serious measures.

I thought the HBC comment was legit. It's easy to win at Bama. Saban would of had a bigger legacy if he didn't coach at Bama. Bear Bryant is the legend at Bama. He built the program. Saban only helped revive it.

Everyone knows Saban is one of, if not the best coach in the college game today. I think this comment comes out of Spurrier's ego. He really wants to win here so bad because it has never been done before. He would love to say he was the first coach to win big here, it'll validate his own ego that he can win big anywhere. He views this challenge as harder than winning at Bama.

I don't think anyone will deny that winning at South Carolina is much harder than winning at Bama.

Right, I think the comment has a lot to do with how he views himself. If he could win a title at Carolina after winning several at UF, I think he would personally view that as far more of an accomplishment then to go in and try and replicate what someone else has already done.

His predecessor didn't do so hot.

Well, he HAS won somewhere else. He's won a national title somewhere else actually. What's he supposed to do to REALLY prove himself, go win a title at a 3rd school?

I think Saban is a great coach regardless of where he coaches. But Spurrier has a point about doing it at a school like Florida or South Carolina is worth something. I just don't think it's as easy as one criteria.

Of course the irony in all this is had Spurrier actually kicked Garcia to the curb long before he finally did, or even you know SUSPENDED him games, for the first few offenses, he might have actually had real hardware to show for South Carolina. Instead he had a guy no one believed in playing QB who eventually gacked up the ghost against Auburn.

This is why I've never had a problem with HBC. Sure it's a shot, but it's absolutely the truth.

All of his shots at UGA have been this way. Yes, he started the UF run against UGA back in the early 90's, but it's not his fault that he was, without question, the better coach in each of those games.

You know I was thinking about starting a thread about what people think '90s Spurrier would say about the Petrino situation, but with a handful of exceptions he has kept is one-liners down here. Mainly because, when he says his one-liners his timing is perfect. If we were 6-6 last season and had lost to UGA or something I'm not so sure he would have said this.
