Auburn will not have....

....a kickoff returned next season. Not for a TD, I mean period. Now that the kickoffs will come from the 35 (moved from the 30), Cody Parkey's touchback percentage will go from 57.5% to 100%.
Arky may be in the same boat. They were at 43% last year. Did Hocker kickoff? I don't remember.
ETA: I know, not official yet.

not sure if they actually approved the rule changes or if they just discussed them

Yeah Hocker kicks off. I definitely don't envision a lot of returns on him in that case either.

We will with Cade Foster kicking off for Bama. He barely makes it to the 10

Griffith will be handling the KO duties this year. He's got an absolute boot.

just like AU fans to start bragging about their kicker. I guess I would too if I didn't have anything else to look forward to for next season

Last time I heard that it was about CadeFoster being #1 kicker in the country. I'll believe it when I see it

somewhere out there is a BIG bad of dicks for which you can pick your favorite one, and then choke on it.

why would the coaches want to do kick a touchback every time?
Teach the kickers to kick the ball a little higher where the ball is returnable and let them run it out. Kicking team will now have a 5 yard head start and could stop them before the 20 yard line with average special teams play

Cade Foster is proof that CFB teams should never give a scholarship to a kicker. If the kicker stinks, he's basically dead weight on a roster during a time when scholarships are more limited and restricted than ever before. Walk-ons like Jeremy Shelley can produce at a similar level to most scholarship kickers without using one of the 85.

That is the reason right there. Touchback is a guaranteed stop.

True, but is it worth the risk? If you know your kicker can boom it out of the back of the end zone, why risk a return. Against some bad SEC and nonconference opponents I would try this, but not against the top SEC teams.

Foster wasnt even a top 10 kicker. Griffith is the top kicker in the country. He kicks it out of the endzone in hs games.

Is this to try to reduce injuries during kickoff? If so, thats lame. This isn't the NFL...

Yeah, the new proposed rule changes make me wanna puke. They're just gradually sucking all the life out of the game. Before long, tackling will be eliminated, as it could potentially cause bruising.
