Only old timer's would remember them, but the 3 Boles kids back in 1997 (Sam Matthews, Travis Carroll, and Chris Reier). It was when I first took notice of recruiting, and at the time, this seemed like a big get out of the state of Florida.
Well, they all turned out shite, giving me my first lesson in "Recruiting services are not accurate"

I never understood that at all. Both of them got worse each year as a starter yet somehow they were always on the field, ahead of Boykin even.

I think playing linebacker really hurt his career. He wasn't good at all at tackling in space or in coverage. He was okay as a senior when he actually lined up with his hand on the ground again.

Aaron Boyd. Four star recruit that hasn't done anything. He'll be a redshirt senior this coming season, I think, and has started one game.

We don't get many four stars. We have two stars that turn out to be excellent players, then a four star that is awful.

Jai Eugene on the defensive side.... The hype to actual output for him never equalled out.
But for the most part I think we can all agree that any guy who has some sick HS film floating around youtube that never sees a good bit of time on the field gets their name thrown in here.

I may eat some crow for this later, but I'll go out and deem Morgan Newton as a bust right here and now before he is done at UK. I remember watching him in a high school game on ESPN and thought "Damn this kid can play."
I didn't really get why he ended up at UK. I know he wanted to play QB and not Safety but I'm sure USCarolina or Clemson would have maybe given him a shot.

Does Craig Loston have a shot at starting next year for LSU? I know he's played on special teams and as a reserve but he was a big time 5 star in Houston a few years ago.
Neither were a bust. Dyer had back to back 1000 yard seasons and Lectron got hurt. You're not a bust if you get hurt. Where's the damn sense in that?
Makes no sense. If injuries puts you on the list as a bust, then what about Tyrone Prothro?

OJ Murdock was in Spurrier's first class. I remember thinking we hit the promised land when he signed. He was either the #1 or #2 WR in Florida that year, and one of the fastest recruits in the nation.
Summers has to be the biggest for us. He was ranked above Reggie Bush in some publications.

Loston will without question be a starter this year and rotated in A TON.

I'd go back a little bit, and say Gary Brashears. Parade All-American, Superpreps #5 overall, and did absolutely nothing but smoke dope and whine.

5* linebacker Chris Donald. Im not even sure if he even got on the field.
