The Dolphins were in shambles prior to Saban, during Saban, and after Saban.

Until Jim becomes the most accomplished Harbaugh this discussion is ridiculous.

John and Jack Harbaugh laugh at the notion of the baby boy being considered an elite coach as this point in his career.

Harbaugh is on his way to being really good, but until he pushes through and wins someting he is just Dan Marino wearing Tom Brady PJs.

I'll take Harbaugh. Younger, has had two great rebuilding projects already. Saban's accomplished more, though.

Agreed. Again, this isn't some decision I'm basing on this year, either. I think Saban is a great coach. However, I think Harbaugh is better. I've been extremely high on him since his first year at Stanford, and he has done nothing but increase my expectations each year.

Yeah, Harbaugh. But he may never leave the NFL if he keeps having the kind of success he is. What he did at Stanford and now in his first year at San Francisco is nothing short of amazing.

None of this is meant to downplay Nick Saban's accomplishments. He is easily the best coach in all of college football, and probably the best of our entire generation.

Harbaugh's a coach. Saban's a better recruiter. That nobody can talk but me stuff doesn't fly with grown men.

Definitely Harbaugh. In pros and college he is 2-2. Saban 1-2.

Saban didn't pass on Brees. He wanted to sign Brees desperately. It was the Dolphins medical staff that passed on Saban over Saban's wishes.

This 100 % and because I really dont give a shite about the NFL I had to stop around page 3. I do think JH is/will be a great coach and like I said I dont keep up with the no fun league much even though I claim to be a Falcons fan But when was the last time in Saints history they ever won a road playoff game? If the 49'rs win the big game I will be very impressed

Agreed! Let's just say the jury's still out on this one.....probably a fluke anyway. Is it just me or does Harbaugh act like a complete dick?!

But before 1-9-2012 Les was THE BEST coach alive. What happened?

I guess LSU fans, and every other SEC fanbase for that matter, finally found something to hold over Saban's head.

Seriously...where are all the LSU fans who, for over a year, tried to prop Les Miles up as Saban's equal, or better? They used to be all over the place. What happened?

Saban was a colossal failure at the NFL, whereas Harbaugh is making an instant impact

who is the better coach?

Rick Pitino was a colossal failure as an NBA coach, but he has been a damn good NCAA coach. It's apples and oranges.

I'm not sure what it matters. I don't want him to be a great NFL coach. I want him to be the best coach in college football.

Look up Tubby Smith's record while at Kentucky and compare it to Rick's tie at Louisville and get back to me.

Sure, Rick WAS a great coach, but I think the game has passed him by and he will not adjust to it. The book is out in the recruiting world with him, he is known to run his players into the ground during practices, the young studs are not going to Louisville because of it (sure, he may get a stud here and there).

Saban is an awesome coach in college....but Jimbo is great in both college and pros.

Just like I want Cal to be the best coach in college, not in the NBA.

There are differences, but it's harder in the NFL than in college. I'd be far more confident hiring a successful NFL coach to run a college program than hiring successful college coach to run an NFL team.

I would take either one, both are good coaches.
