Dee Hart isn't going to play in New Orleans unless major injuries occur to the top three RBs on the depth chart. I'm not sure why this rumor persists, like the one with Duron Carter being eligible to play. This was the case in the '09 Sugar Bowl with Colin Peek. Someone starts a rumor about it, and it spreads like wildfire.

Dee Hart is eligible, and I assume he has been cleared medically. After that it is up to the coach's discretion.

I am sure Dee would like to play and contribute in a BCSNC game. I don't think Alabama has any downside in playing him as I think it is unlikely he would stay for 4 more years, if he is redshirted. That is my point. He can play in the CG and still play 3 more years, which is likely all you would have gotten out of him without the injury.

You can redshirt him but he can still leave after 2 more years, if he has a break-out season.

plus, running back is the position where guys are most likely to leave early for the NFL.

If Hart can really give the team something they need, then i dont think the coaches will hesitate to put him in. best case scenario is he provides a darren-sproles-like change up. worst case scenario is you have a true freshman in his first game college ever and its the national championship vs lsu and he's getting the ball but he is in over his head.

it goes to the OP's point about depth. a lesser team might have to gamble and play him, hoping they can catch lightning in a bottle. but with bama's depth, they dont really have to do that. would you rather just call a few more plays for trent richardson or spend a lot of time implenting a play or three for a huge wild card?

A lot of this stuff about Hart playing probably persists because Coach Saban has a precedent in burning a redshirt late in the season. I believe it was Randall Gay that burned his redshirt in the 2001 SEC Championship at LSU.

Travis Daniels not Randall Gay.

Saban then drafted him at Miami.

No doubt. Our 08 class has an amazing record, and this one is also great. We have amazing LBs, a couple of good RBs, some great DBs, and our WRs coming in all look to be promising. If we get Jameis Winston then him/Morris will be a pretty good get for the class.

What about the fact that you whined your way into the National Championship game and caused a team with a better resume to not have a shot at a team you already lost to at home?

We got in because we have the best team in the country. Everyone who isn't an LSU homer or sucking Les Miles dick sees this. You only won on November 5th, you did NOT beat Bama. I can't wait for January 9th, because after we win most of the LSWho fans are gonna cry about how Bama lost at home, and how they'll get the AP vote, and blah.

Bama is the best team in the country and yet they didn't even win their division?

You might have a leg to stand on if LSU didn't dominate the #1 hardest schedule in the country.

Face it gump LSU is the best team in the country and on January 9th our damn strong football team is going to prove it to you.

Saban burnt his Redshirt against Arkansas in the last game of the season and we watched him give up the game winning TD for the Hogs. Yea, that was brilliant.

No he didn't. He burned his red shirt in the SECCG against Tenn and he knocked down a pass in the end zone and we went to the Sugar Bowl. It was pretty fricking brilliant. Stop making shite up.

This is why Dee Hart could play in the BCSCG, even though he has not played all year due to injury, as he could leave after his SOPH season if he is redshirted.

The delusional Bama fan deserves a lot more study and analysis than they've received, but the problem is that they don't survive long in captivity.

And only 1 SEC title and 1 BCS title to show for it?

Shitty coaching?

Saban has recruited a top 5 class in each of the last several years. The 2011 class had 3 5* recruits, but none had a difference-making impact on this year's team, because of the existing talent.

The 3 5* recruits were

1)Hasean Clinton-Dix (S). He had Mark Barron, a Senior All American and Thorpe Award finalist ahead of him. He was also playing behind Robert Lester, a junior who is a highly rated NFL draft prospect. HCD only made it on the field for special teams and mop up duty.

2)Cyrus Kouandjio OT. He made the most meaningful contribution, playing LT behind Barrett Jones, Outland Tropy winner. CK played a lot of meaningful snaps prior to suffering a season ending knee injury. He looks to emerge as next year's starting LT.

3)Demetrius Hart RB. Dee was getting reps as a RB when he suffered a knee injury before the first game. He looked to be one of our return specialists. He was almost certainly going to make a meaningful contribution before his injury. However, he was behind Heisman finalist Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy.

4)Vinnie Sunseri, a 3* safety has made the most important contribution to this year's team. He was a headhunter on the kick-off,Kick-off return, punt, and punt return teams. He played in some of our nickel and dime packages, and played most of the Auburn game when Barron was injured.

Despite a top 5 recruiting class no freshman broke into the starting line-up. This year's team loses 17 scholarship seniors and 3-5 draft eligible juniors. More playing time will be up for grabs for the 2012 class.

I dare say that the same class would have produced several starters at 75% of the other schools in the country. This class would have produced several starters at Ala just 5 years ago.

The fact that Saban is not forced to play freshmen before they are ready
just shows the depth of talent at Alabama. That there were three national award finalists occupying the positions that these three 5*s play just shows the depth of talent at ALABAMA.

The scary part is that this year's class has a chance to be special.

Thanks. When we recruite tonight for LSU, I have printed this off to give to one recruit who has considered Bama. This should end that.

Once again you bammers are trying to use stats to proclaim your greatness. Lol. Depth of players is determined by actual playing time dumbass. Not something on paper those paper stats will not win a game for you.
