He idbt the first LSU coach that has issues with beating the Gumps.
And he won't be the last
To be clear - he owned the gumps before Saban, the aforementioned statement holds good only for the duration of the SABAMA union.

The success Lsu had in 2011 had more to do with Matthieu than Miles.
  :rotflmao:
Thank you for interjecting that joke and lightening the discussion because it is obvious that this non sequitur could never be the output of a valid logical processing.

Strawman? Hardly, I like Miles as a person but the guy hasn't done anything noteworthy in 6 years.
Umm he went 13-0 barely two seasons back - won the sec west and sec conference titles , took the team to the BCSCG. That qualifies as upper level elite for most coaches.

The rest of the country realizes that Miles is a lovable buffoon. Lsu pretends that he's an elite coach, even though he loses to teams like Ole Miss regularly.
You didn't answer the question regarding the metric or benchmark standards for an elite coach, the requirements from an administrative standpoint and instead are sticking to a strawman argument with a purely subjective statement.

He's just not an elite coach
What would be your definition of an elite coach?
Be it NFL or NBA or college hoops or baseball - it is only the Win/Loss record and occasional division, conference and championship titles.
Do you have any other metric?

but Lsu keeps giving him raises and extensions.
Maybe the administration likes a coach who has an 80% win record in the toughest division / conference.

It's like the rest of the country realizes what Lsu can't.
What is that exactly? That LSU has a coach who wins but it doesn't align with or suit their style?

He was the "veto" half of the infamous Mal-veto Co-DC experiment in 2008.

The best outcome, LSU wise, regardless of who wins, is for Saban to decide he wants a new challenge and gives big boy football another try.
I agree that Saban being at Bama pushes them up more in case of bowl selection - but other than that the regular season is a good game each year and I would prefer it if Bama has Saban or an equally good coach.

re: Rueben Foster commit weakening - Chavis on the hunt!

According to the Auburn board insiders, Foster was there yesterday talking to the coaches and continuing to call existing recruits and asking them to stay.

Yea, I'm sure Les "forgot" that the media reports on the biggest recruiting event of the year, never mind the fact that every local sports radio personality is there hosting the thing
In the pre-internet/cellphone/smart-device era the "Coach" could say stuff with assurance that it would stay off the record.
Not so anymore -the point was not to denigrate Les but acknowledge that in the heat of things we tend to forget surroundings and blurt out stuff.
quote:
You people that think Les is some bumbling idiot that is lucky to win all the games he's won crack me up.
Where did you get this from?
re: You can't seriously be mad at Miles

Yes, because I hear the Miles family is dumpster diving.
I could live off 6 months of his pay for the rest of my life.
Supply and demand - it will work if Les knows there is a demand for him and the administration knows that there is not enough in the supply line to replace him and come out ahead.
Why blame him? He is not in this for Philanthropy?

Regardless of any failing of GK, Miles is a grown arse man whose been wildly successful. Mocking an 18 yr old for changing his mind is beneath him and an embarrassment for LSU.
Yeah, seems like Les was caught up in the moment and if I recall correctly , it was during the bash and he forgot that even those lsu specific events have reporters waiting for sound bites.

Wing and Alleman have both regressed from last year.
Wing is back to his old kicking form but needs good coverage to make him look even better.
quote:
While our return game is better than our kicking, OBJ had 2 REALLY good punt returns all year but he wasn't great for pretty much all of the year.
quote:
And apparently everyone is overlooking how much our kick and punt coverage has digressed since last year. Still waiting to see on McGaughey...
The reason for both issues is TM7 - we have no player of his calibre this year, one player can make the difference in having consistent position within or near the 10 yard line.
He was helping the kickers/punters have a good game as well doing a great job on punt returns.
Teams who have that one player with IT always shine that particular year(s) in their special teams.

Good to see he's finally making it. But man you have to be pretty dumb not to qualify, the standards are so low it almost sad.

DAMN he got jobbed by his CC basically. They told him he was taking a math course necessary for him to get to LSU. Turns out it was the wrong one and he passed it. He stayed back and passed the correct one this time.

I could see a program that is not close to being decent(Kentucky, Colorado, etc..) giving him a shot..But, if he gets caught cheating just a little, then the program would get blasted by the NCAA..
Tressel wouldn't need to do anything risky at Kentucky - he is a huge upgrade over their last two coaches.
He wouldn't need to do anything but show up at Colorado

For being a UM board, they are extremely unbiased. I'm impressed.
The Canes had 4 titles within an 8 year span but it took 10 more years for the next one. They are in fertile recruiting grounds and know that the right coach can get them a title very easily.
They don't care about losing the occasional recruit since there is plenty more where it came from and the right coach can ignite that spark for the championship ala butch davis.

The AU boards seem to think that if he goes it would be to Georgia?
