re: Golf Board: Having trouble hitting fairways.

Just food for thought - I hit a two-iron straighter than a driver. Took several years of the same guy beating me each time we played to get this through my head. My two iron, off the tee, is easy to hit. Off the fairway, I would not recommend it other than to advanced golfers.

If length is not a problem, try using a two-iron on shorter par fours (370-400). This will still leave a short iron into the green but you will be amazed how much better you score by hitting you 2nd shot from the short grass.

Related to Mountain Man on Duck Dynasty but not a real celebrity.
re: Tips for starting a running/jogging program
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 5/2/16 at 2:43 pm
My recommendation:
Start with a run/walk pogram. Run at a slow pace for 2 minutes followed by a one minute walk break. Do this for two weeks. On the third week, try to run for 2.5 minutes with a 30 second walk break. Do this for two weeks.
After the first month, try to run (still at a slow pace) for 3.1 miles. Do not increase from 3.1 miles until you are able to increase your pace.
After that, you can begin some light hill training, fartleks, mixing in a small amount if HITT.

This bothers you enough to make a thread on this subject? Really?
re: OT Runners: Thoughts on Mizuno Wave Prophecy 4?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 2/17/16 at 11:33 am
I have two pair of Brooks that I rotate with each run. I currently have 372 miles on one pair and 348 on the other pair. I definitely recommend Brooks - but have a good friend that also recommends HOKA's. HOKA's are a bit much (in the look department) for me, but again, to each his own.
re: How big of a tip do you leave at restaurants?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 1/5/16 at 11:01 am
Depends.
If the service from the waiter/waitress is good, usally 15-25%. If they give poor service and it is within their control (keeping my drink filled, etc.), it goes down.
If the food is poor quality, this does not have any impact on my tip, as they can't control the food.
If service is excellent, usually 30%.

re: Vizio vs Samsung
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 11/23/15 at 1:47 pm
I've had a Vizio for 6 years. Love it, great picture, have had zero problems. My Dad has a Samsung - better picture but twice the cost so all in all, the Vizio works really well for us.

Do you plan to run a Marathon or Half Marathon this year?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 1/19/15 at 12:24 pm
I plan to run my first full marathon in November. Any suggestions on a good place to run a half marathon anytime from May-July?
re: Anybody here completely debt free?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 1/14/15 at 9:28 am
Honest reply time.....unlike others here. LOL.
I owe on my mortgage, had a setback in 2010 that took me in quite a bit of debt. Currently owe on a mortgage and $20k of other debt. Hope to have 1/3 of that paid off by year end. But, I do have quite a bit of extra money each month so at least things are not tight.
Vehicles currently paid off.

re: Dropping Home Phone Coverage or drastically reducing your plan -who has done it?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 7/28/14 at 12:22 pm
Haven't had a home phone in 5 years. And - I don't miss it at all. Cell phones typically have unlimited talk these days and honestly, how much are you on the phone once you get home?
Does anyone use Bamboo HR at their company?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 7/23/14 at 3:10 pm
Our company is looking at using a cloud based system and wanted opinions.
re: Fastest half marathon time?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 7/15/14 at 3:21 pm
Plan to run my first half in October. Started at apprx 14 minutes a mile (I know that is walking time) and hope to be at a 1:59:59 for the half.

Cat5e or Cat6 Cable - price
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 7/15/14 at 2:00 pm
What would be the average price of running Cat5e or Cat6 cable (one cable) in a strip mall suite, apprx 100 feet? This includes termination on both ends but no networking included.
re: Fastest mile you've ever run? How many miles can you run?
Posted by Survivor 2010 on 7/15/14 at 12:48 pm
Maybe the question should be - fastest mile in the past month?
