Alabama has 3-4 guys that are top three round material over the next two draft classes. Chapman, Williams, and Square can all be drafted that high. Ed Stinson may soon make a name for himself.

Until they actually get drafted, coaches can't pitch them to recruits without it sounding like they are just talking up their own players.

Next year's draft will be a good chance for Bama's 3-4 talent to be on display in the early rounds, but that's a year away...

If the panthers are smart they will stay the hell away from Cam. They should take darius.

It's Dareus. His family is Haitian.

Bama is well on it's way to establishing their Dlinemen in the draft and NFL. Cody went 2nd round, Dareus will be top 4 pick. Deaderick started for the Patriots. And while Saban is just now getting his players there, as they mature, Bama can point to 7 other D-linemen currently in the NFL besides Cody and Deaderick.

I haven't seen many reputable draft boards that have him at #1. He is a good pick and likely top 5 top 10 at worst but right now I think Cam will be the #1 with Carolina.

Get ready for the ban. The Cam number 1 talk is just Currrrilina trying to get Buffalo to trade up.

That guys like Jadaveon Clowney, Quay Evans, etc., can't succeed at the college level or be high draft picks at the NFL level because of the 3-4 defense and how it uses DEs, DTs, and NGs.

This is truth. I would like to know the last 3-4 lineman taken in the top 10 before this year. Even with Dareus going 2, Dareus is cashing in due to his versatility in both systems and on 1 play in the title game like Marcus Spears in 03 from LSU; and the fact that his coach is over rated as a coach and more of a master recruiter. That's why most of his 1st rounders at both LSU and Bama don't live up to the hype. I can think of 1: Corey Webster.

Deaderick started for the Patriots

Due to about 8 injuries ahead of him. He's a non-factor in 2 years.

Just depends on their size and skill set. Freak and ego could most likely b great ends in a 3-4. Not sure if Sam and mingo could be the olbs but if we had a ng it'd be worth a shot since we r thin at lb.

I do think it was best for clowney to be in a 4-3 though.

If Bama can get around 4 DL drafted in the top 3 rounds, it might sooth the qualm...

it's gonna be harder to that in a 3-4 scheme, no?

FWIW, it comes down to what a guy wants to be in college.... do you wanna penetrate and make TFLs & sacks, or do you wanna stand there and take on a double team?....the answer is probably gonna always be the former.

but it's not like AU (or any other 4-3) is gonna have 3 dudes go early in the draft either.... Clayton and Blanc could get drafted but are nothing spectatular.

Dareus talks funny, is it b/c of his heritage (1st generation?)?
