I wonder why? that year we were

We nearly lost to San Jose State, and we did lose to Houston that year
That was my only experience there so I have no other frame of reference.

Which game did you attend at BDS this year?

well you have to come when the team is better but i suggest bringing a rain coat for when you walk by our east upper deck, that is the main area where our piss balloons come from. LSU just can't control the family section in the east uppper and they get rowdy and throw piss balloons

I went to Bama/UF. It was loud but no where near the level of JHS or TS.

too many old people in the lower deck
their tickets are slowly being inherited by my generation though

I've been to bryant denny several times, the last being in 2007 for the lsu game.
from my experiences, when it gets loud, it's as loud as any. it just doesn't stay loud like TS, JHS and the swamp.

I don't know if it's more like Neyland, but if it is, the fans are crazy loud and consistent... when the team is good. I'm not sure if Bama is like that, but the atmosphere is noticeably different when the fans aren't so apathetic.

it's surprising that there are people who actually think there is a comparison. i was at jordan hare in '08 for the lsu game and both teams were ranked in the top 10. it was a huge game and it was loud. however, it wasn't even close, nowhere near as loud as the loudest games in tiger stadium, of which there have been quite a few this past decade.
lsu at florida in '08 was also very loud.
the only crowd that i thought rivaled lsu was lsu at bama '09 and i've been to every sec stadium at least once except for fayetteville and columbia. bryant denny was the best in game atmosphere outside of tiger stadium i've experienced.
i went to the lsu game in seattle last year and washington is loud for the west coast but nothing compared to sec crowds.

Jerden Hair is NOT louder than TS. Let's see, wild crazy Cajuns, loud, lusty, bourbon-infused screaming, versus, high-pitched screeching, pom pom waving men. Not even close.

at the aubbie fans claiming to be louder since stats prove we are louder
I was at the 08 Bama / LSU game and sat in the upper deck. And I was impressed.
I was at the LSU/WV game this year and sat on row 18 on the 30 yard line on the east side. And I was unimpressed. I was hollering louder for LSU then the LSU fans surrounding me.

I remember you saying that in a thread about the Florida game. And I responded with quotes from 10 different recruits stating the exact opposite.

I like Tiger Stadium solely because you can get drunk and ride the escalators .... up.
Walking to the top of JHS is a VERY sobering trip.

I've been to both venues multiple times. I think TS is louder. I've also been to BDS many times (not this weekend). Unless BDS is a lot louder now with the expansion, both JHS and TS are louder than BDS.
Tiger Stadium is one of my favorite venues in all of college football (especially when OM wins)

quote:There were several factors working against the crowd being up for that game. After losing the core of our 2004 team we knew we were goign to be somewhat rebuilding. Also, that was right after Katrina, so there were a lot of other things on people's minds and we thought one of our players had lost his family in the storm (luckily those reports turned out to be untrue and they were all safely in Houston).
when i went to the tech game in auburn i didn't think it was that loud
I have never been to a game in BR, so I can't compare JHS to TS directly. I think the noise level that you hear in JHS depends greatly on where you are sitting. My seats are near the top of section 39 (north endzone) so there is really no sound coming from behind me so it doesn't soung that loud. The couple of games I have been to @ Neyland it sounded really loud because I was right on the walkway and there were thousands of people behind and above me.
I will say that JHS has the ability to be very loud on the field due to geography. The stadium is built on an old creekbed, and the field sits down in the valley, with the east and west stands being the "banks". If you are on campus, you will notice how the concourses outside the endzones are well off the ground but the sideline concourses are ground level. When you come in on the east and west side, you have to walk down to get to the seats right by the field. So the ground helps trap/amplify the sound, much like it does at Clemson.

ESPN should start bringing decibel-measuring devices to the stadiums to measure the crowd noise. If the fans knew they were competing against other stadiums, it would make the venues that much better. Maybe they should make it an ESPY award and randomly invite a few fans from the winning team to attend and accept the award....do they make denim tuxedos?
