I am curious if the Bama fans really think Saban is admired around these parts or is it posturing? Also do you really think Bama will be able to pull top talent out of Louisiana?

Both questions are puzzling.

Saban lost a lot of political capital with most La. HS coaches.

Saban doesn't have to recruit Louisiana. He has Florida and Georgia to dip into, not to mention the talent that already exists in Alabama... I don't get your question...

Why wouldn't Alabama fans admire a coach that just own a national title. He's having a statue built for him for goodness sakes.

He has pulled talent out of Louisiana. Regardless of where LSU saw those prospects is besides the point. They fit what Alabama needed.

I thought all NC coaches at Bama had statues made of them. Would be really odd building one already of that wasn't the case.

And he still recruits Michigan and Ohio from his Michigan State days. He's gotten some, as in Mark Ingram and Mike Marrow, but missed on others. He's doing the same in Louisiana. Obviously most kids are going to go to LSU, but Alabama has gotten a few good talents from the state of Louisiana.

dont know Rohan I am not saying with any regularity but Auburn just pulled Reed and I would be willing to bet if Bama continues its succes that we may pull a couple from time to time.

I posted an article on this forum about a month ago about Saban and Miles recruiting in Louisiana. Apparently, some HS coaches were so fed up with Saban that they were directing a few of their top players away from LSU. There was a story about one coach steering a top prospect to another college only to have him commit back to LSU after Saban took the Miami job. Add in the fact that he's moved on to a division rival and I think it's pretty clear that he's burned a lot of bridges at Louisiana.

Saban and bama can keep on dreaming... you may get a JC kid, but what exactly has a JC kid ever accomplished in college other than being a bust?

as far as I know, the 2 La kids he pulled have yet to play a down (I could be wrong). So, tough to say he has pulled any talent from La that have done a damn thing.

I do know he pulled JaMarcus from Alabama though when he was at LSU.

Didn't Auburn pull the top guy out of LA this year? If Auburn can do it, why not Bama?
