One of the best coaches of our generation and the coach of a team who pushed LSU to the limit in some epic battles. A very healthy respect for his innovation, tenacity and the love he showed his players.

We aren't sure what the diagnosis is, but it must be serious to give up the job. Whatever it is, the Tiger Nation wishes Coach Urban Meyer best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Had the chance to meet him while he was recruiting at my high school and he is a very classy coach. He was definitely better than Saban, who is as dry as a dead fish.

Best wishes to him, but he is very far from classy, and this is someone whose has known him since his BG days. Great coach, not a great person.

His record speaks for itself. 98-18...that is truly remarkable. Dominated the nation's toughest conference for five years. Played in the biggest games year in and year out and navigated with so much success in spite of the giant bull's eye. Almost a coach who was a step ahead. Obviously, when threads like this are created, we all acknowledged how great of a coach he was. And at just 45, how many more years were left for him to become a legend.

He becomes a legend in my book for his success everywhere and how he recognized that this is not the most important thing in life. Too many times we, myself included, put too much emphasis on games played by 20-year-olds. He understands his health and family are far more important that coaching football. He has his money, success and his legacy in place. From an LSU fan---God Bless Coach Urban Meyer.

When things like this occurs it sure brings all of the trivial things like sports into the correct perspective, at least it should for all of us! I wish him and his family the best.

"We aren't sure what the diagnosis is, "
True. The "it must be serious" part is just speculation and the material from which rumors are made.
