SEC Doctor should chime in. He's always bringing commitment updates from kids from the state of Alabama. No reason he shouldn't join this discussion.

With the transfer portal and NIL in existence, it baffles me why anyone cares about high school recruiting.

Why do people still want a 5 star highschool QB? Save your NIL and get a seasoned transfer portal QB. Don’t waste your time on a guy who might be ready in 2 years and demand more NIL every year

Being able to develop them in your system would be a benefit.

Except no one stays around to learn a system for several years anymore it seems.

Ty Simpson.

quote:

Key Details of the Decision

The Offer: Miami offered roughly $6.5 million, with other offers from schools like Tennessee and Ole Miss in the $4 million+ range.

Reasoning: Simpson stated he did not want to tarnish his legacy by playing for another school and aimed to pursue his goal of playing professional football immediately.

Advice from Saban: He consulted former coach Nick Saban, who advised him to make the decision based on where he wanted to play, not just the money.

NFL Outcome: Simpson was drafted by the Rams (No. 13 overall), securing a deal worth roughly $25.4 million with a $15 million signing bonus, rendering the turned-down $6.5M offer a smart gamble.

It has made me care much more about the underrated guys we go for. The big recruits are still fun and all but I pay much more attention to the guys that I think will actually stay and develop.

Are we supposed to worry about QB recruiting and development under Kiffin?

Kiffin did not offer, and wasn't playing the $$$ game with Haven.

He saw what happened to Kelly and Underwood .

If Haven was just playing the $$$ game, I highly doubt his two finalists would be Bama and UGA

Bingo.

Neither Alabama nor Georgia throws around mega bucks for high school kids.
