Driving across these hills today I have to say I don’t think I’ve seen more isolated country (outside the West)….it was awesome.

ETA: surprised and disappointed that HRV hasn’t weighed in.

If you think Huntsville is isolated, you haven't been to 75% of Arkansas.

Huntsville may not be isolated, but the area southeast of there surely is…

I'll see your Huntsville and raise you a Buffalo City.

Only 1 way in and 1 way out unless you're going to float down the Buffalo/White River or hitch a ride on a freight train. Clinton’s White Water Real Estate Scandal was over the land just on the other side of that steep rock wall on the far side of the White River.

This is specific and a very good point.

If anybody wants isolated and completely non-touristy try Snow Lake, AR. It is way down on the north side of where the White and Arkansas run into the Mississippi River, no bridges, is in Desha County and you have to go all the way, way up north before you can get to a bridge to cross the White to get to the county seat. It is probably the place farthest from its county seat that far east in the country.

I grew up in the nearest town that was more than 1,000 people or so and I only went there once in my life.

You're not far from where Jim McDougal founded Madison Guarantee bank ala Whitewater fame from Bill Clinton and Killery (McDougal mysterious DIED IN SOLITARY CONFINEMENT the night before he was to testify in the Whitewater case. Literally in solitary confinement over a white collar crime)

much of Kingston, Arkansas has been bought up by the Waltons - the general area is where the waters start trickling together to form the Buffalo River

you need to watch out for cows standing out in the middle of the highways, protesting, blocking traffic

our cows have been out of control for quite a while now
