Fired coaches don’t leave. After getting fired I’d bolt. Is Auburn that special?
Pat Dye - died there
Tubs - still owns a crib there
Gus - still lives there
Gene - still lives there
Freeze - still lives there
Bruce still lives in Auburn.
Do any ex-sec coaches still live near your campuses?

I can't speak for the other's, but Freeze has already paid for the country club membership and lifetime entrance fee for the local strip clubs, so why would he leave?

Auburn is a great place to live, raise a family and is near Lake Martin. Just a great area overall.

Like others have said, it's in a nice area. I'd live there.

"If you love Auburn, Auburn will love you back" (Dye). This is a true statement.... I think the folks on your list respected it and did love it....
The following two not so much...
Tiny Tot Bowden
Potato Farmer Harsin.

It’s 1000x better than crime ridden Tuscaloosa. You don’t have to worry about gunshots and dope dealing in Auburn.
Decent folks down there.

We had an ex coach buy a house back in February. Then we hired him.

Not unique... We don't have as many former coaches as most others, but Vince Dooley (deceased), Ray Goff, Jim Donnan, and Mark Richt all live in the Athens area.

It is a nice place to live and if you need the big city Atlanta is not far away. I prefer NW Arkansas but Auburn, especially if you have a bit of cash, is one of the top places in the SEC to retire to.

We haven't had many coaches since the 70s but Barry, Bob, and Brent still live in Norman.

UGA had Dooley, Richt, and Goff plus Kirby at one point

It's a nice place to live if you like the small (but not too small) town life. I wouldn't mind it at my age.

Lake Martin is where our final move will be.

Unique is a word you could use.

Unless it's just too slow for you or something, I think it would be hard for any normal person to spend a few years in Auburn and not be fond of it. It's a largely wholesome place with people who like being there and mostly pull in the same direction with each other.
IRL I know a number of expats from other SEC schools who did stints in Auburn and either stayed indefinitely or returned after a while.
