Wow LSU above Bama.

Discuss amongst yourselves. Should be a civil discussion.

This is way off. Indiana won’t be ranked by the end of the year. Replacing 26 seniors and a Mendoza will be tougher than expected. Ohio state loses a ton. Yes they recruit well, but they won’t have Caleb downs and a slew of top players next year. I suspect SEC wins it or someone that hasn’t won it in a longtime.

I actually think Hoover is a decent QB but he’s a solid downgrade from Mendoza.

So the SEC starts with 11 top 25 spots that they can swap around all year?

They will ride their 2 early season good wins into holding those all year.

LSU has a long and proud tradition of underperforming preseason rankings.

Year: Preseason Rank - Final Rank

2020: #6 - Not Ranked
2021: #16 - Not Ranked
2022: Not Ranked - #16
2023: #5 - #12
2024: #13 - Not Ranked
2025: #9 - Not Ranked

LSU is becoming Auburn, you don’t need to worry about them when prognosticators are high on them.

Based on how the SP+ is calculated, why is this surprising?

Why?

It’s all rainbows and fairy dust from anything that claims to be a statistical analysis until at least week three.

It’s no different than a coaches poll at this point.

They are 52nd in returning talent nation wide. They were 44th for 2025.

Coaching. Bama lost 4 games each of the last 2 seasons. At a runt school, Kiffin lost 4 total games the last 2 seasons.

Potential unrealized due to inadequate leadership. Keep your fingers crossed that it continues. Might be coming to an end.

Honestly, I couldn't care less either way. LSU needs to come out and prove all of this shite anyways. It doesn't really matter where they're ranked in any metric for me until we see it on the field.
