How does this feel to SEC homers? The Big Ten was definitely the best football conference and now they are looking like clearly the best basketball conference? Should their fans start chanting "Big Ten" when playing non-conference teams?

They certainly could, but as it turns out not even Midwesterners like the Midwest.

Big 12 is the best in basketball.

Big 10 is the best in football (last season anyway).

Sec and B1G probably tied in basketball, B1G more top heavy but their conference top to bottom is pretty bad

You think we are going back to a time when the SEC is the best basketball conference? The Big Ten has vastly more resources than the SEC and not sure what is going to change about that. Leveling the playing field as far as paying players doomed the SEC.

When is the last time the Big 10 won a championship in basketball?

Based on what? Certainly not championships.

The winner is usually a crap shoot. It is the hardest tournament to win of them all. Not necessarily the best team year in and year out.

Regardless, out of the past 5 years the Big 12 has won 2 and the SEC has won 1.

To answer the question, though, based on metrics.

Umm your conference tournament champion barely escaped with their tournament lives and needed some pretty shitty referees to do so vs the middle of the pack dogwater SEC team last night.

Y'all haven't won the NCAA tournament since 2000 so you might want to tap the brakes there and wait till Monday the 6th to start chirping your mouth.

I like our SEC with quality depth and programs across the board way more than a conference spread all over the country and includes Rutgers.

The SEC is "tied" with the Big 10 in basketball? I see when the SEC was very strong at the top in football and not very good in the bottom half, it didn't affect the SEC being the "best" football conference. Now that the SEC is clearly not that great at the top (will the SEC have any team in the tournament after today) but now you want to look at "top to bottom" to determine conference strength. Wow.

Nobody from the Big 10 has won a championship in 25 years.

Yall were clearly below SEC, based off of the regular season. But the tournament has bumped yall up (mostly Nebraska beating Vandy and Iowa beating Florida)

How many SEC teams were in the top 20 at the end of the regular season versus Big Ten? Same with top 10. So not sure how you can say the SEC was ever ahead of the Big Ten.

You freaks were bumping your gums about getting 6 teams into the Sweet 16 when *checks notes* the SEC got 7 teams in just last year. You know the year an SEC team won the whole enchilada.

Until you field 50% of the elite 8, 50% of the final four, and a champion you're just a gum bumping wannabe

So which conference is better THIS YEAR? That's all this is about. Someone actually wrote on this thread that the SEC was ahead of the Big Ten based on the regular season. How is that defensible?
