Withholding judgment until he gets through this coaching carousel with Nate Oats still wearing plaid.

He hit it out the park with the Nate Oats hire and the baseball coach hire was pretty good. I'm not too privy on the other sports to offer a definitive opinion but he seems like he did a good job so far.

ETA : I like the Deboer hire but only time will tell if he hit it out the park

I think he’s doing great. Football, baseball and basketball are in good shape.

Byrne is considered one of the best to do it by his peers. He's brought money in, managed the personalities and made good to great hires. If DeBoer didn't lose to Vanderbilt or Oklahoma in his first year he would have been considered a home run as well.

If he can somehow find a way to get a new basketball arena built, they should put a plaque with his name on the front of it.

Byrne Arena-has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?

My biggest and really only complaint against Byrne so far is how he handled(or didn’t) the Sankey/Bediako comments.

We needed to have someone push back against Sankey there and it should’ve been Byrne.

Above average mixed bag so far in the sports I follow, VB and GYM.

Lindsey Devine (Volleyball) Nightmare. Nothing improved, she bailed after 4 seasons of nothing.

Rashinda Reed (Volleyball) is proving to be a slow burn. Cellar of a program that she's improved steadily every season.

Ashley Priess-Johnston (gymnastics). Up and down. She did well enough with the previous regime's athletes and then plummeted last year. This year has been a good rebound and they're #5 in the nation heading into the tournament.

He could give Oats the world but if he wants a job like UNC/KU and takes it that shouldn't reflect on Alabama's AD. Just like DeBoer leaving Washington days after losing the CFPNC shouldn't reflect on Washington's AD.

He's hired 2. Hiring one who'd conspire to bet against us is exceptionally awful.

I hope Byrne is leaning heavily into his, "At a blueblood you will always exist in someone else's shadow, if you stay here future coaches will exist in your shadow," pitch with Oats.
