I don't go 100% on Josh Pate, but it could be nice to hear what gets discussed

Liked the interview… Golesh mentioned multiple times about “not skipping steps”… essentially everything he did leading up to today prepared him for the AU job (being an assistant, coordinator, HC at smaller school).
Compare that to what we hired with Steven Pearl… the ultimate step skipper… the contrast couldn’t be more obvious.

That’s horse manure. What would you say about Kirby then…. he skipped the same steps that you are saying SP did.
I do wish SP would have taken a smaller job 1st but that was a crappy low blow.

Now a Takeo Spikes interview with him

not gonna lie, Golesh was one of my top choices when we finally dumped Freezus
nothing he has done or said thus far has made me reconsider
i think he’s going to be extremely successful one day, just hope he’s here when it happens

One of the best interviews of a head coach I have seen in a long, long time.
Don’t listen to or watch Pate much but he did a good interview here. He kind of asked questions that I have thought about and wanted answered.
Golesh is an impressive guy, I look forward to watching this unfold but he really gets this whole thing.

I thought it was a good interview. Given the choices available to us, I think we made the best hire we could. Golesh is willing to put in the work which is more than can be said for Harsin or Freeze.

He is saying and doing all the right things. I’m pulling for him. Do we have the talent necessary is the question. We have 60+ new players, and outside of Brown, we didn’t upgrade talent at most positions. At least not on paper.

Great interview! Thanks for sharing…

i think even some AURantards fail to realize what a colossal mistake Freezus was, he set the program back further than Harsin did IMHO

Look man everyone’s entitled to an opinion… but at the very least freeze is leaving AG with a good DC and the framework of what should be solid defense for next season.
You’re letting your bias against freeze cloud your judgement on just what an unmitigated disaster the Harsin era was.

I think it’s interesting to hear the players talk about how different practice is this year versus when Freeze was there. There was a lot of wasting time and standing around, which tells me Freeze had no idea how to write practice. I’m not sure if we’ll have as much talent, but I think we’ll be a better team this year. Simply from the habits, organization, and discipline alone.

I cant lie. My mental health NEEDS Golesh to be AUFBs Bruce Pearl minus the son

You are 100 percent correct. Freeze was a worse coach than Harsin other than recruiting which resulted in still more losing seasons. Talent has to be coached as well as acquired. I believe we will be a much better team in 2026 than we have been since 2020. Golesh and crew are not playing around. Got rid of the the pussies and overpaid underperforming "superstars" for some hungry guys wanting to prove something. That is exactly what this program needed. Freeze is scum both on and off of the field.

I just can't get there. Of course they were both failures. I'm not sure what Harsin was even trying to do here. He somehow managed to win a few games (see LSU), but the trajectory of the program was straight down and it didn't seem to bother him at all. Man, the program had literally nothing at the end. No talent, no leadership, no plan. Freeze at least executed a plan (rebuild the roster). It's just that he didn't follow through after that. He didn't now how to cultivate a winning culture, develop a QB, or even coach the game of modern football for that matter.
We wasted 3 years with Freeze's BS, but Harsin was like an agent from an enemy school sent to destroy Auburn Football from the inside. I feel swindled by Freeze. I despise Harsin. And my 2 children were at Auburn for both of them, which makes me physically ill.
