Some of you will think of him as the greatest coach of all time. I’ll always think of him as the coach who quit once the playing field got leveled with NIL. He could no longer cheat.

Most of us will just see you as a whiny bitch.

They all know it's true.

Bear Bryant is the GOAT coach...without a doubt

It’s a fact he quit when the going got tuff and the playing field more even.

Good. I hope his voice carries some weight on the topic if it'll help alleviate some the chaos and hopefully create a structure with sensible rules and guidelines.

Maybe. It's arguable. But I generally don't waste my time trying to turn opinions into facts.

Ok. I certainly won't tell you what to think.

I don't know that he did or did not cheat. I have seen no proof either way. So for now, he still has my respect.

...and we're suppose to give a f**k about what you "think" of him?...

I think he just wasn't up to having to recruit his entire roster every year. It would have been much worse for him at Alabama, because his entire roster was 5 and 4 star guys, many of which weren't playing. They' would have been prime targets for other schools.
He didn't have anything to prove. Good time to retire.

NIL is the worst thing to happen to college football. Saban simply wants it to be controlled. His toenail knows more about college football than you.
In the SEC, we honor our legends. Saban said nothing wrong. Your post is trash.

Both can be true. He absolutely IS the greatest coach I've ever seen - in just about any sport. Because the guy took a winning formula - and then changed it up when it didn't win at the highest level.
You can count the number of top tier guys that did that on one finger in my lifetime. Saban and Mike Klaskjdfkasjdlfksdalfjasdlf from Duke.
But Nick Saban shouldn't be given the authority to take tickets at the local cinema. Let alone "fix" college football. He's a tyrant. He's not suitable to be let rule over free men. No different than Mike LKJLAJKASDJL. Or Bobby Knight. Or many others of his ilk.

Bidding for players and allowing them to transfer in the way currently allowed has no place in college football or any sport. Those who think differently, enjoy it while it lasts.

As opposed to bidding for, and allowing to transfer, your favorite coach ?
Now lets get down to it. In what way do you feel as if you "own" the labor of anyone ? Especially for something as simple as a "scholarship" ? Or how such recipient "owes" you ?
I went to a borderline university / community college on scholarship. At no point did they obligate me to a period of years to stay. Nor did they deny me the opportunity to earn money outside of the small stipend they provided. As a matter of fact - they encouraged doing work within my field of study on the side for money. They called it "interning".
And I don't think I ever made that school a dime. They just wanted to be able to say they had a National Merit Scholar and Valadictorian. So tell me all the restrictions you want to put on a ball-player that is part of the huge money mill that is College Sports Entertainment.

So you should not retire when you are like 74? Give me a break, you wont make it to 50 before you are calling mom and dad for an advance on your inheritance because you are just too stressed out…
