The team ERA is 4.26. What's going on here? I know it's early and their batting average is high. But legit question, how many returning arms do you guys have? Last year you had arguably the best 1-2 punch in college baseball and some great bullpen arms.

Replacing two aces is a work in progress. Moore looks like a legit weekend guy and Evans will come around. Schmidt was strong on Sunday. I feel good about those three, but no one will have a 1-2 like LSU had last year.

We’ve used 19 pitchers so far this season. A&M for example has used like 10. Come at the end of the season they’ll be 7-8 that are your go to arms and as long as they are pitching well we’ll be ok. We shall see.

Also our combined era over this past weekend was 2.88 with like 11 walks over the entire weekend and a boat load of Ks. Against Indiana, ND and UCF.

Hard to replace that 1-2 punch.

I really like our pitching staff this season. Our starters have potential to be as good as any rotation in the country, but 2/3 are pretty young and need some time to settle in.

We have some studs in the pen as well.

Look at Shores all of last season and then his turnaround in the supers and Omaha.

We don't have a 1-2 like that this year, and likely will not for years to come. They basically carried a solid not spectacular team to a title.

We do have 5-6 guys vying for the weekend starter roles and all are solid. Its early but I feel we will have a better overall staff this year than last. How that transfers to post-season success is up for debate, and really all that matters.

Mizzou will be ready to beat your team this year. Count on it.

It’s still so early as well. Our number 2 last year had a months worth of starts in Feb/March where some of the fans were questioning (yes I thought they were crazy at the time) if he was even an SEC type of pitcher. And then next thing you know he’s one of the best in the SEC.
