It was a fun 10 year run under Bruce. Our cheap arse boosters didn’t want to pony up and build a competent roster and he said I’m out of here. Bruce said live on air that we weren’t even in the ballpark for Yaxel Lendeborg.

You’d think a serious program coming off of a Final Four and SEC title could put up the funds for a star player right down the road at UAB, but here we are. It seems to have worked out well for #1 Michigan.

Now his son was put in a tough situation with a roster full of mostly average mercenaries with only 2-3 players that are good. We’ll miss the tournament and unfortunately ride Steven Pearl into the grave next season with another roster that isn’t up to par and he’ll get fired.

One day our boosters in football and basketball will realize it’s worth putting up the money upfront instead of having to save the program from the bottom of the barrel.

He apparently got $3 million from Michigan. Auburn offered him $1 million.

I disagree. Bruce abandoned y'all just so Steven could get a shot. However, while this might have been a rebuilding year with Bruce, he still would have had y'all firmly in play for the tournament, just like Tennessee and Bama in rebuilding years. Steven just isn't a good coach. The fix is simple: hire a real coach, not somebody's kid.

Agreed. It’s been fun, but it’s over.

John Cohen and Steven Pearl killed it.

Upvoted just for the Minnie Pearl photo. I wonder how many posters got the reference.

And Michigan is going to be the #1 overall seed and probably win a National Title with him.

Think Auburn wishes they’d paid that extra $2 million now? Seems like it would’ve been a fantastic return on investment instead of staring down the barrel of firing your coach and paying his buyout in a year.

Crazy talk. If you're going to hire a first time HC at an SEC school, you have to give him a couple years to get his footing.

Not this year of course. I’m talking this time next season. The writing is on the wall.

There is a serious argument to be made that AUTiger789 is the reason for Auburn basketball. Dude alone cursed that team

Auburn will likely never be the program that pays a premium price that most colleges will consider too much. Auburn fans love complaining about over spending already.

Can you really see Auburn dishing out 3 million for a player in a rebuild cycle.

not dead, but pathetic to watch.

Pearls son was not ready and is not a good coach. Zero scheme, just back yard street ball with a bunch of ball hogs that dont play as a team.

They dont play defense, they have zero flow on offense. Just a horribly constructed team with kids that dont like each other

On a side note; if Auburn makes the NCAA tournament, Steven Pearl will have taken his first team as head coach to the tournament.

He should have gotten more head coaching experience at a lower level before getting tossed in the middle of the SEC against other really good/experienced coaches.

Almost like an SEC head job is not meant for a first-year head coach.
