He tanked after 1yr with the Seahawks and they turn around and win the Super Bowl. He gets a life line from Defour and the offense regresses. Is Defour gonna keep his bbq buddy another yr if the offense stinks it up again this year?

He isn't a bad OC necessarily, he just doesn't run the ball

It's definitely not a good look that Grubb got let go from the Seahawks because he didn't run the ball like they wanted to followed by him leading Bama to a historically bad rushing offense.

But there are also extenuating factors there. Darnold was a significant upgrade over Geno Smith, and losing Metcalf allowed JSN to shine as WR1. Grubb very likely would have had a much better offense there in 2025 had he not been let it go. and let's be honest-the Seahawks won it all because of their defense, not their offense.

And Bama's run blocking was so porous that it didn't really matter what the OC called, it wasn't going to work with the blocking. Its not like he didn't try and run the ball. He probably called too many run plays considering. There were plenty of available plays for Bama that our players just didn't execute.

but prior to '24 and '25, Grubb's offenses have ran the ball well at times. And he's ran some great offenses in general over the years. There is a reason why he's been one of the hottest OC names in cfb the past 5 years.

idk, we'll see what happens this year, but it'd be a lie to say that some Bama fans aren't asking the same thing.

eta: I was wrong-Grubb has always been pass-first and has never really had a great rushing attack.

Has everything to do with the question. He took a team to the National Championship game as the OC

The Seattle offense scored one touchdown last night. It was a 37 yard drive set up by a turnover. Their other TD was a defensive TD, a pick six.

Essentially the Seattle offense scored 15 points while their defense scored 14.

Alabama scored 28 against Auburn in 2024, they scored 27 in 2025.

You will need to change your bait and alter your presentation.

Interesting fact: As an OC Grubb has been to the college football playoffs two times. As a football program Auburn has been to the playoffs ZERO times.

I stand corrected. I thought that he had some better rushing offenses.

Any OC with that bad of an offense with that talent level simply isn’t that good.

Their offense was the worst I can remember back to the Shula days. Even Shula had much better offenses a few of those years.

In general, his teams are usually able to run the ball, they just don't. It's like he can't help himself.

For instance, they obviously made it a priority on the first drive vs FSU. The backs ran 9 times on the first drive alone and Simpson ran 3 times for a total of 12 rushing attempts.

They only had 14 rushing attempts the entire rest of the game.
