No - he doesn’t deserve one on his athletic achievements alone. But with all the portal/nil crap, and now that Dylan has made the NBA when no one thought he would, I really think he should get a statue at Auburn as the quintessential “student-athlete” and ambassador of the university. He could have transferred and done all the stuff, but he stayed loyal to the university that gave him a chance and he loves it. In today’s world, I think it should be celebrated.

He’s by far my favorite Auburn basketball player of all time that I got to watch.

I love Dylan like everyone else but i think that's a stretch. Sad state of affairs when a guy staying for 4 years deserves a statue consideration

I think a statue is a little much.

But Dylan deserves commemoration in some way.

He came in and worked his tail off for very little for the first few years. He exemplified the culture Bruce was trying to set and brought energy to the team and to the fanbase. He finished his career being a very solid player leading to our second F4. He deserves an NIL contract namesake or scholarship or something. If we want to describe the modern Auburn man then he is the guy.

But I am not for him getting a statue before Broome. Dont think either deserves one

It's just the world we live in. Dylan Cardwell and Tre Smith characters have too many opportunities to leave for personal reasons so when the one sticks around it's mainly a nostalgia award.

I mean we could have an annual award given out to "Student Athlete Auburn Spirit Award" or something like that

Yep. I would prefer a postseason award/NIL sponsorship.

Dont really want to leave a namesake up in the air for a player to either bust or be a locker room problem.

Need to exalt Dylan's legacy and not just wear it down.

Almost like what woud have happened if we gave Cam Newton's number to Deuce Knight.

LSU has an exclusive legacy thing going on with the honeybadger so dont know why we cant.

Didn't that start with Patrick Peterson and then his number was passed on to Honey badger?

Ole Miss does too with Chucky Mullins"s number.

AU hoops could do the same with Dylan's number, let a guy who has stuck around 4 years and makes it a point to engage with the student body on and off the court wear it.

We currently have a “David Housel Spirit of Auburn Award”, and Dylan Cardwell was awarded it in 2024. But yeah, would have been nice to put Cardwell's name on it.

Give him the student-athlete statue, the last of his kind.

I stated multiple times his game translating to the NBA. Good rebounding, excellent passing, good at finishing in transition, ability to guard 1-5 and pure shot blocker.

I’m surprised he was underrated for his size, strength, agility, athleticism. No he’s not an old school post up bucket getter.

I would be ok with a statue but said after he graduated that there should definitely be a student-athlete of the highest esteem named after him.

I don’t think he deserves a statue but an award named after him would be great!
The Dylan Cardwell hustle award! To be given to an athlete that showed the greatest hustle in any sport at Auburn!

While I remain against the idea, if it were to happen I hope it is from when he hit a 3 and played the entire ensuing defensive possession with his hand still up in his follow through position.
