As a season ticket holder, I like the 9 game conference schedule, but, it scares the crap out of me as far as injuries and getting beat up. I'm not sure the conference (Sankey) thought this one through. SEC is still tougher than Big 10 no matter what happened the last 3 years.
What's ya'lls take?

It's utterly retarded. The only thing it does it make more money for the people in charge. What it does not do is make UGAs chance at a national title any easier.

Mike Slive gave us miZzzouri and A&m Greg Sankey gave us texas and oklahoma.

These shills ruined college football . Mega conferences are whats wrong.

Its a microcosm of the world ———> the more you centralize, the more centralized power tries to fix the problem that centralized power itself creates. Rinse, repeat until doom

We will 100% see a 24 team gimp off before 2030.. You cant s top these psychopaths

It benefits us and more levels the playing field (and Florida and Oklahoma and Texas too).

There won't be any more seasons when we only have 3 conference games in Sanford like we would've have this upcoming season and every season that ends with an even number.

If risking injury is the main idea, a 24 team playoff would blow an extra conference game out of the water.

Sankey doesn't make unilateral decisions. He's an employee and has to have approval from a majority of the members.

It does the exact polar opposite of benefit us. It hurts us. I mean think about this from the desired end result and work backwards:

What is the main goal? Win the national championship
How do we win the national championship? Make it to the end of the playoffs
How do we do that? First make the playoffs
How do we make the playoffs? Win as many games as possible

I don't see how the above could really be argued. So if the goal for UGA is to win as many games as possible, what logical or rational sense on earth does it make to substitute Austin Peay on our schedule for LSU or Oklahoma instead? Spoiler: it doesn't. All this does it make our already meat grinder of a difficult schedule even MORE difficult. To suggest this is a good thing for us is a slap in the face to critical thinking.

Now, if you want to say it "levels the playing field" only wtihin the SEC, ok yes I agree. But who the hell cares? I don't care about the SEC being a level playing field. I care about how we compare to the other dozen teams we'd be battling against in the playoff. have you seen texas tech's schedule next year? As a reminder Texas Tech is the reigning big 12 champion and is one of the highest spending teams in america that takes pride in the fact that they'll just write a blank check and get whoever they want. They made the final 4 of the playoffs last year. Here is their 2026 schedule:

Sep. 5 Abilene Christian Wildcats
Sep. 12 @Oregon State Beavers
Sep. 19 Houston
Sep. 26 Sam Houston Bearkats
Oct. 3 @Colorado
Oct. 10 OFF
Oct. 17 Arizona State Sun Devils
Oct. 24 @Cincinnati Bearcats
Oct. 31 Arizona Wildcats
Nov. 7 West Virginia
Nov. 14 @Oklahoma State Cowboys
Nov. 21 Baylor Bears
Nov. 28 TCU Horned Frogs

This is our competition. This is who we are fighting against to win playoff games. This is a team that could likely play their backup 22 the entire year and still manage 8-4 at least. This is a team that shoudl sleepwalk backwards into the playoffs rested and refreshed while we play 9 games against bama/ole miss/oklahoma/auburn/etc plus tech, plus the SECCG. So no I wholeheartedly disagree that the playing field is leveled by us adding another league game.

Our main goal was to beat our rivals and win the SEC Championship before every season.

way back when, I'm sure the #1 goal was to beat tech and hey if we ended up getting one from AU/UF/UT that was gravy.
When Richt got here I suspect winning the SEC was the #1 goal every year and making the sugar bowl

Times have changed. Where we are now as a program, if our #1 goal heading into the season isn't to win the title then WTF are we even doing? Note- I'm not saying anything short of that is a failure. 2025 was a remarkable season that was a resounding success. But I would damn sure hope that we go into 2026 with our sights set on a national title and not just "our top priority is beating florida and tech this year".
