The game has changed a bit. I think 1970-2000 were the peak years of the sport.

People showing up and cheering for their team made up of students from their school. No transfer portal or NIL but fighting and cheering for the home team.

Mike Shula would have thrived with his run up the gut offense.

It appears you didnt have to be set on the line as a gunner on a punt either.

It was all about the shoulder pads and neck rolls.

Stanford was The Indians until 1972 when students protested due to campus wide vagina aches and pains. They became the Cardinal and made the mascot a tree that year.

This is good offseason content.

No Lane. No coonass-rebel pissing match. No alter pretending to be a ____ fan. No Willie Boy juvenile cartoon memes about his favorite team, Alabama.

The world is healing.

No targeting or facemask calls to slow the game down back then.

Actually during the early part of the 20th century there was a real issue with "mercenary" players moving from team to team to team (and obviously taking money to play at each one). It was in response to this issue that the transfer rules were originally implemented.

This generation thinks it is so much smarter than previous ones, but in reality it is so stupid that it can't even learn simple lessons from history and so has to go back and relearn everything the hard way.

Is there footage from the 1909 Alabama/LSU game? It would be interesting to see what the teams looked like the last time the series was tied at .500.
