Which had the better career start when at Michigan State vs Indiana? Similar caliber programs where each coach got their start.

I personally see another 50 years in Cignetti where he could bypass Saban at this rate.

Both in different eras now.

But, I'd say Cignetti is a better Saban than Saban was.

Imagine Cignetti as the team principle of Ferrari. He’d whip the Italian gene out of them.

Completely apples to oranges. Cignetti came at a time where he could literally ship his entire team with him to jump start it. Saban had to work with what he had at East Lansing.

This is akin to saying Herb Brooks is the greatest hockey coach ever.

Every year there is one hot coach that everyone adores. Then they fade to mediocrity.

Herb Brooks was very good coach. But Saban won 7 titles. Saying someone that hasn't even finished the drill yet is better is just stupid.

Of course what Cignetti has done at Indy is more impressive than what Saban did at Michigan State.

Cignetti has had 11 tries to win a championship at a lower level and didn't do it.

The idea that Cignetti could coach a program like Alabama and he would win 8 in 15 years is stupid too.
