Sustained Success After a National Championship

Once a program wins a national championship they typically continue to have success for a little while, even if not national championship level success. Every national champ for the past 50 years was at least able to followup up their title with a winning record. All but one. Here is a list of teams since 1975 who won an AP, BCS, or CFP national championship but didn’t at least have a winning season the next season. It is not a long list.

To be fair…after the undisputed GOAT CFB CHAMPIONSHIP, the only way (given the loss of a host of all-time CFB greats) to go was down.

You mean the season when the world was shutdown and there were zero fans? The when multiple sports shut down completely? It is like stopping the WS during WWII. That’s why the 2020 “season” was meaningless and whatever is written about it is a joke.
