You knew it was going to happen - boosters having second thoughts, not what they expected

Several powerful boosters for teams around the country are not fans of the one-year rental player program and thought their money would attract talent and help build long term success. According to CBS sports and SI, boosters are strongly considering pulling back their NIL money because players are simply using them for a quick payday and the following year are off to another program.
According to several boosters, they were thinking NIL would help build success on the football field, and in return, the players would want to stay to be a part of something special. Based on what is happening, NIL money has not improved success on the football field and players have shown absolutely no loyalty and are just chasing the money.
I guess we all knew something had to change, but the problem now is, how do you fix it or is it even fixable?

2-3 year unbreakable contracts. You can leave but you’re going to pay dearly for doing it.

There’s no point in paying high school recruits unless they are elite and ready to contribute day 1.

Schools just need to offer one year deals. Because there is NOTHING you can do to bind a kid to a school. So you pay them per season. A dollar amount to sign - a dollar amount to be paid on opening day - and another amount at the final end of the season ... be that the end of the playoffs, the bowl, or the regular season if none of the above were achieved.
We do not need congress to protect goofy ADs and boosters from themselves. Just smarten up. Protect yourselves. This isn't hard.

It will be fixed when there is less money being offered AND teams start using multi year contracts for full payments. The only drawback will be much like the NFL players will start sitting out for more money but I never understood the notion that all these rich boosters are just itching to waste tens of millions of dollars on largely unproven athletes for no return on investment. It never made sense long term

Schools shouldn't even be involved in the paying of them as it was originally intended.
You come to school and play. If a company feels you are marketable they pay you for Name Image & Likeness.
Then it doesn't matter so much where you are.
If your money was coming from local businesses, well, if you go elsewhere you can get it from the local businesses where you transfer to (assuming they find you marketable).
This is now a huge ball of worms and will be until the gubbamint steps in and don't think for a minute they won't find a way to frick it up.

You are mistaken if you think every booster is a billionaire. A lot of these guys are doctors and lawyers and engineer types who just want to see their favorite school get the best talent they can afford.

Way back in the day - even I got a small stipend as part of my academic ride to a small school. So no, there should be NOTHING preventing a school from doing the same for a ball player.
We're just at the stage where a bunch of people HOPE that a judge's ruling will limit that fund to about $23 million a year. Its still a cap. It will not stand.
You can't stop a willing party for paying for a legal service.

Congress will never touch an antitrust exemption for college football, they’ve regretted giving baseball one for 104 years, the president has zero authority here and the conservatives on the Supreme Court have signaled that they are willing to give the players more freedom. Pray tell me how this buffoonery ends?
