Is Cignetti’s turnaround better than Bill Snyder at K-State?

I’m not sure. Still think Bill Snyder’s still may be best of all time.
Cignetti has NIL and transfer portal.
Snyder didn’t have NIL, but effectively had transfer portal by loading up on the Kansas and Texas JUCO pipeline.

This pretty much makes any comparison to the "before times" impossible. How would Snyder have done if he had millions of dollars to go get upperclassmen from other teams to come fill some needs? How would Cig do if he had to strictly rely on recruiting 17 year old freshmen and developing them their whole career?
We don't know the answer to either. Also worth noting that Snyder had to play Colorado when they were still good, nebraska, Texas, OU, etc in the regular season while Cig has to play Oregon and...well no that's it, basically oregon was their only tough opponent in the regular season this year. Last year they DID have to face OSU in the regular season, then lost by 3 TDs. So who knows.

Yes. Indiana has the most losses in the history of college football.

From a previous post :

Indiana was the worst team in college football for 150 years and then they let teams start paying players and they immediately became No. 1 and the only conclusion to draw is they were the only ones who didn’t realize you could pay players under the table for the first 150 years

I don't mean to discount what Cignetti has done in the slightest, it's extremely impressive. But there's a major difference between, "Go sell high school and JUCO recruits on committing to spending their college careers at one of the worst programs in college football history with nothing more than the promise that things are going to be better," and, "Mark Cuban said he'll buy any players you need so go find out how much it will cost to build a winning team using the transfer portal."

1000 times better. Synder started this scourge of scheduling non-con cupcakes to pad his record.
The trend Cignetti has started is offering veteran 4th and 5th year players. shite half his team might be fathers.

in 2 years from 3-9 to an undefeated national champions would be very impressive. I like Miami ok but kind of hope Indiana pulls it off.

There can be no other understanding than this. What he’s done there is incredible and he didn’t do it just by buying 5 stars either. He used the rules in place to go buy proven players.

I guess. Cignetti is an insufferable prick, but I guess it beats seeing Michael Irvin and his clown routine.

ha. He does appear to be but apparently his players love the guy. If nothing else he is elite at compiling a very good team in this transfer portal college football world.

Absolutely
Snyder never made the championship game.
A&M took care of them in 1998

He’s shown the correct model moving forward. Just watch, you’re going to see championship teams be a lot older than they used to be. That age difference matters, a lot in terms of discipline and experience.
Outside of a very rare few players, an experienced 3 star with 5 years of experience is going to be better than a 5 star freshman. 5 additional years of strength and fitness training and learning skills. Anyone who thinks this doesn’t matter is delusional.

Agree 100% with this. Hopefully the sec capitalizes on this direction and flips this shite around. Thereby making the 2 major conferences suffer from the nil and open market. Then hopefully all the conferences get together and agree to a better system and governing body.

Eh, Indiana was dominant in college basketball for decades and that sport had far shadier shite going on than even football, it’s just not as well known due to being lower profile
There’s a reason blue chips wasn’t about football

NIL and the transfer portal make all the difference in the world. Kansas State was the losingest program in college football when he took over, and he had to recruit people to go play at the worst program ever, which happened to be located in Manhattan, Kansas.
It’s not quite an apples-to-apples comparison, but Snyder’s feat was more impressive.

Indiana boosters didn't want to dodge Bobby Knight's chairs.
