Yes we've lost a lot of players to the portal, but is that a bad thing? We got a stud QB coming in, Cobb is staying, and a lot of new guys with a chip on their shoulders. Couple that with a a coach with a history of putting up big offensive numbers and a DC who has his side bought in. Af*ter watching Cignetti pull 13 players from JMU, turn a 2* recruit into a Heisman winner, lots of similarities. Hopefully, we can snag a piece of what's happened at IU. Players being a team!

First time, in a long time, I'm excited about Auburn Football!

I won’t be optimistic until the trenches get fixed. Things are looking worse than last year at this point. Hopefully we can close out the portal strong.

I really hope Golesh is successful in finding the right players for his system. I hate what the NIL and the portal has done to the game and I'm not sure how sustainable it is for all these teams to compete in the current atmosphere. Hopefully he can find some gems.

It was obvious when Mendoza beat Auburn in 2024 that he was much better than expected. He was picking the defense apart while we had to watch Thorne stink it up.

to be fair, we made a lot of QBs look better than expected in recent years

he had a sneaky good 2024 on a shitty team, but i dont think anyone, even Cignetti, expected him to have the kind of season he’s had

I would find it extremely hard to believe our oline could be worse than last year. The coach and the players that gave up a record amount of sacks and hurries are gone. We hit rock bottom with that group. No way but up from there.

Also, Golesh's offensive-style will take a lot of pressure off our lineman. Blitz at your own peril with Brown taking snaps. 1000 yard rusher and 3000 yard passer. Opposing DCs are going to have some sleepless nights gameplanning for that guy.

Without anything to show at the moment there’s no way AG is going to battle without an upgrade. If even forced into 2stars or ungraded players. He’s not a blind coach like the one we’ve been pampering. The parts will have some intent in mind besides how they look on paper.

I never thought HF was worth having (not from day one) and Golesh has resurrected my dead hope. So yep, optimism has finally re-entered the picture.

Agree. Even with the schedule it should be 8 wins - but that depends on filling our remaining needs of course

Identifying underrated talent, and then showing how well we can develop them for the NFL in order to retain them is going to be the requirement to win in the NIL era.

There is only so much money to spend on NIL, so you gotta find the underrated guys with potential that are cheap so you have the funds available to pay the big bucks for a few generational talents every year.

A guy with a fantastic work ethic can be molded into a great player by the right coaches. Genetic freaks tend to not work as hard and rest on their god-given talent, and will be much more expensive.

Give me 2-3 star guy that is HUNGRY to get better everyday over any genetic freak. Attitude is more important than measurables IMO.

how gratifying it must be for him, nearing the end of his professional career, after decades of slogging away in the trenches, to reach the heights he has achieved (and the subsequent financial rewards)

he’s a tribute to pluggers everywhere

He definitely exposes the charlatans who dominated the sport in the pre-NIL bagman era.

We needed a change and Golesh seems to have a good attitude that we need, but I'm cautious. I'm kind of tired of the merry-go-round of spread systems and "this time it'll work" skill players. I'd feel much better if it didn't look like we were going into next season with a G5 roster. USF had a good season, but Florida and north Texas really were their only wins against teams with a pulse. But if we can get to at least 7 wins against next season's schedule, I'll be 100% sold.

Yeah I'm a little bit jazzed. I made a post about it.

But I was also jazzed when we got Jackson Arnold to throw to our star studded class of receivers.

I was jazzed when Hugh Freeze was landing top notch recruits and positioning us as one of the premiere destinations for high school football players.

I was jazzed when Hugh Freeze was hired. Despite my personal misgivings about the man's moral character, I thought he was a program builder who would know how to fix Auburn.

I was jazzed when we nearly beat Alabama in 2021 because I thought it meant Harsin could hang with Nick Saban.

I was jazzed when we hired Harsin. It seemed like we were finding an up and coming coach with a different perspective who would coach fundamental ball and breathe new life into a team made stagnant by Gus's stubbornness.

I was jazzed when Bo Nix, five star Auburn legacy athlete, signed with Auburn. I KNEW he would go on to be an NFL superstar one day...one day not at Auburn.

I was jazzed in 2017. We beat the dog crap out of em and then went on to be embarrassed in the SECCG and our bowl game.

I've been jazzed many, many times over the past decade and every single time has eventually let me down.

I’m excited that we have a coach who has a plan and works it. Hopefully we are disciplined and AG holds his players accountable. That’s as good a start as anything. But we are rolling with sub-P4 talent on offense and until we sure up the line of scrimmage with some ball players it’s gonna be a tough to be consistent in the SEC. Not saying it won’t happen, just hasn’t yet

i started looking into the guy after USF beat UF and really liked what i read

he was near the top of my wish list and was really bummed when it was announced he was going to Arky

when allin posted he was the hire and not DJ i was thrilled

settled into a cautious optimism based on my shitty record of predicting who would be a homerun hire at other schools

i like Golesh based on what i’ve seen, not sure if it will work out on the field but i’m more hopeful than i have been in years

I thought we were fricked when we got Freeze. Now I think we have a chance. I don't think it will be easy, but it is clear this guy has a system.

If I had to guess I’d say we will have success early on offense because of Brown & Co. and then lose some games late due to lack of depth & P4 talent. But it’ll show potential players that we can compete moving forward.
