Cliffs Notes of Legend's call to Finebaum today

• Pete Golding is coaching in the semifinals and Alabama just lost by 35 points to Indiana. This is really confounding for Legend and seems surreal to him.
• Legend still hasn't completely gotten over last year's Vanderbilt's game and it's obvious.
• Something something Larry Bird.
• Something something Greg Byrne.
• Deboer has taken the mighty Crimson Tide and "turned it into a weak-arse-Joe Biden-looking-asleep-at-the-wheel (indecipherable)"
• Legend loves running the football. But "the offensive coordinator is a complete moron in the running game and that's why Seattle got rid of his arse."
• Legend really doesn't like Cam Newton also.
• "5 sumo wrestlers and 5 giant gummie bears who haven't touched nobody on the second level all damn year" is his description of the O line.
• Wants somebody to explain to him how Indiana beat our arse by 35 dang points. Asked twice. It's very important that someone explains it to him.
• UHauls for everyone.
• Legend pointed out how all 4 coaches in the seminfinals are from the Saban tree, but Deboer is from the Sioux Falls tree.
(commercial break)

Alabama not hiring Lane Kiffin (Saban tree) because of some stupid bullshite about how he pissed off a booster will go down as the biggest mistake in program history.

All you have to do hire him. I’m sure he will come as soon as Bama calls.

Probably not.
Two people he trusts more than anyone else told him that LSU was the best job in college football.
Saban, his mentor, and Orgeron, one of his best friends.
You have to think that both would steer him away from the Bama job, especially Saban.
That job requires a certain type of personality. Saban knows that Kiffen fits better at LSU where the expectations are high, but the culture is more loose and quirky coaches are accepted and usually embraced.
You want to know why Kelly didn't work? Because he didn't know how to let loose and have some fun. He never seemed like he was enjoying anything.
Cignetti wouldn't work here. If Saban stayed here, he maybe would have won 1 or 2 more NCs. He definitely wouldn't have had a run like he did at Bama.
Two reasons for that: 1) Miami was the first time he ever failed, which made him a better coach. If he stayed, he wouldn't have reevaluated himself.
2) He was to serious and structured to truly be accepted in South Louisiana. Don't get me wrong, he and Mrs. Terry were welcomed and liked, still are. But his demeanor would have worn thin eventually. We are not that serious in these parts.
That's probably why he loves us as much as he does. We allow him to let loose and not be the uptight guy he feels like he needed to be. I love seeing him on Game day just being relaxed and not on edge all the time. I just wish Les could be on there with him. Those two together would be greater than Shaq and Barkley.

Legend is always talking about the 'standard' at Alabama. Giving perhaps the 2 greatest college coaches their due respect (Bear and Saban)..Bama's standard without these two coaches is one NC in roughly 30 years. That is the standard.
There are no more Sabans out there. The only thing Kiffin ever won was a conference championship at FAU.
and while we're on a roll...next year...maybe the Finebaum callers that talk about running an SEC 'gauntlet like Vandy, Mizzou, Tenn, Aurb, USCe...etc...let's just call it what it really is. A conference schedule with some over-hyped mids. SEC fans who probably don't watch much fb outside of the SEC need to realize that a win over Iowa, Illinois, Minnesots is the same as a win over their mids. No gauntlet..nothing special.

He almost got this part correct. Parker Brailsford has been excellent. But he was surrounded on both sides by 350 pound gummy bears.
Michael Carroll will be good. But he was a true freshman. That is how bad the line was, a true freshmen started at tackle.

I don’t either. And I don’t understand why this arse clowns opinions are relevant on ESPN. But he’s an expert on how to lay down in a Super Bowl game.

You do know Legend and a few others are paid to play a character on that show? It's like thinking WWE is real fighting. One of the normal callers told on them a few months ago. The caller said he met one of the other "paid characters" and they are nothing like in person who they are on the show. He said their voice wasn't even the same. It's a show sprinkled with paid actors for entertainment purposes.
