Football should never be double elimination.

Well heck why stop there. Lets have a playoff for the SEC championship.
Then expand the national championship to 48 teams and triple elimination.
Or maybe they just take their arse beating like a man and move on.

Football - double elimination???? And 24 teams???
It will take 3 months to play the tournament, it isnt basketball were they can play every other day.
It will end the weekend before March madness starts with both teams starting 3rd string qbs due to injuries.

Go back to:
Big 10-PAC10 Rose Bowl
SWC: Cotton
Orange: Big 8
Sugar: SEC
Season finishes January 1.

Agree, sort of-
BCS formula with 12 team format. Select strictly based on the calculations.
No special considerations like G5, Notre Dame or automatic qualifying.

It won’t, but at some point the Big and SEC may expand, form two super conferences and have their own playoff.
If so, same likely result.

Why would they do that? They essentially have that now

If Florida ever goes to the playoffs please let us know how that works out for you.

Hurts the higher seeds that have byes. Rust hurts more than rest helps. Go to 16 teams. Three of the top 4 teams
Lost today.

Is this true? or is it that the rankings are always nonsensical garbage...
Ohio State drew one of the top teams, despite Miami being "ranked" #10
The rankings will ALWAYS be flawed, so the seeding, especially with a fixed bracket like we have, will create mismatches

Do they?
Exceptions made for G5 and Notre Dame.
Pundits are already suggesting a G5 playoff, doing away with conference championship games and Notre Dame joining a conference.
If all this happens, then yes, it will essentially be the same.
