A bad feeling in my gut...

Losses happen. Bad losses can happen every so often too. However, this felt like one of those moments where it is hard to imagine a staff that can put this product on the field with so much on the line will ever get the program to its level of expectations.
I am not saying that DeBoer should be fired today. He deserves the chance to right the ship. However, I don't feel like he's going to get us there. We've had three losses in the last two seasons that were utter embarrassments that I haven't seen from this program since Mike Shula showed up after Spring camp and had a deep sanctions roster to boot in 2003. DeBoer, however, hardly had the same headwinds.
I do know that I'd rather be firing a coach in October 2027 than have him poached in December 2025. Always better in this era to be hiring on your terms rather than someone else's. So if my gut feeling that we're never getting over the hump with DeBoer is true, we're better off for winning that OU game and denying him the opportunity to talk to Michigan on their timeline.

It was a program altering loss. A bludgeoning like this on this stage is unacceptable.

I've been feeling the same sensation ever since this soft dunce was hired

How much would Cignetti cost?

It's not that we lost....it's the way we lost

No idea and maybe he would not even want the job he has built something at Indiana he may not be willing to walk away from. I’m not calling to fire DeBoer because I don’t think it’s a plausible possibility but Cignettinis the only coach I’d want if Bama did the unimaginable.

That may be a very good thing. We bent over backwards to try and preserve the roster when CNS retired. Time to clean them out. Maybe find some guys who want to play.

Hoping he’ll come here is pure fantasy
He’s building something over there and they’ll match any offer Bama can make. That combined with the massive buyout in DeBoer’s contract, it’s not something Bama can afford

I get it. Its 100% reasonable to be pessimistic. I think hes a bright guy and genuinely competitive. I sincerely dont believe a lot of these coaches that fail are very bright.
There is a great recruiting class coming in and I hope KD makes some changes on the staff. The OL coach is a straight up loser and should have never been hired. Same with ST coach. Just go look at their resumes.
Its also gonna be extremely difficult to just chess match beat teams. Its not reasonable to ask the QB to do all that Ty does before the snap and to ask the OL just to sit in a stance for 20 seconds then fire off the ball

Deboer needs to be let go or find another job. Bama cannot achieve the 'Bama standard' under his coaching or leadership. Too soft, too clueless, too delusional.

The same things win that always won -
How does everyone always forget this one simple truth ?
Tough, gritty, teams that brawl in the trenches and lean into adversity will always beat the frick outta soft finesse teams. Kirby and Cig just went in balls deep back to back on Bama playing Saban ball.
DeBoer is a finesse guy... end of story.

Not really all that many going to be around in 2026 and if so they will be 3 years into DeBoer Program.

I’ve not said a word until now because what could you say? What happened was there for all to see.
This was not acceptable. I think we lost to the eventual national champion. But they are not five touchdowns better than us.
This was not acceptable and I think this should put the kibosh on any contract extension talks. If Sexton gets DeBoer to walk because of that, then he walks, we’ll find someone somewhere.
I think DeBoer deserves a chance to right the ship so I’m not for running him off right now, but the reality is this evaporated everything good that happened this season and I don’t think he merits an extension.

I'm doubtful that DeBoer gets us there either.
But the administration isn't going to make knee jerk reactions

Getting clowned by UGA and IU like that....a contract extension isn't warranted.....all I see is deBoer has a limited ceiling. Not sure why that would warrant an extension. He needs to show he can get to the next level.

Indiana has guys that want to play. Could be the coach. Ugly debacle all around, regardless. We got manhandled by the players and the coaching staff.
Hell, I bet the band got whipped by their band, as well.

He absolutely should not get an extension. That would be about as irresponsible as you can be.
