Damn shame that Texas got held out of the playoffs solely because they played Ohio State and not a cupcake.

The real question is - if they were still in the Big 12, would they still have had the political clout to influence their way in? They controlled the Big 12 and even if they had the same record (obviously OSU would have been their only loss), surely they would have had the entire conference machine pushing them in.

We’ll never know - but Texas has to be questioning why they came to the SEC now.

You underestimate how much the move to the SEC positively impacted Texas’ recruiting.

Texas was better team than quite a few playoff teams, yet they weren’t a true championship contender. So who really cares? Arch maybe could have willed it to a semi-final finish. The development/evaluation misses at IOL and RB capped this team’s potential.

I’m pretty sure it’s A&M questioning why Texas came to the SEC.

You’re just mad because Tech is going to light your defense up tomorrow. JMU is good but not 34 points on the road good.

What is there to question? The sec is a better and more exciting conference. Zero regrets about the move.

It is more exciting but Texas will have more years like this where a deserved playoff berth gets stolen from them

If we were good enough to win it all we would be there. Regardless of conference.

We aren’t good enough this season.

The playoffs will expand.

A&M might have won the 2012 national championship had they remained in the Big XII. Maybe y’all should consider a rejoining that league. Texas wouldn’t follow you this time.

You can make the same argument for ND then no? They lost to Miami w a QB who never took a snap and a shite defense . The ND team at the end of the year is way better than that team in week 1

If they "controlled the BIG 12", why couldn't they ever win it?

Nope…no regret on the move at all. I’ll take the tougher games again other top tier games.

Yaw are putting way to much emphasis on these non=playoff bowl games.

Many teams have 5 or 6 new starters on both sides of the ball. And, yes so far Ohio State has not looked very good.

tbf Texas winning the Big 12 every year would've been a bit too on the nose

I think the recruiting uptick outweighs the lesser competition and as a fan every Texas fan I have ever spoken with prefers playing SEC teams to Big 12, hands down. There was not a single Big 12 opponent we miss in football, not one.

Texas did, not nearly as much as OU, was screwed out of 08, and the idiots in the Big 12 office made divisions instead of the 2 best teams thus the winner of RRS auto to the Big 12 title.

Also OU owned Texas.
