The Oklahoma State lineman that's in the portal scheduling a visit with his current school might be the canary in the coal mine.

I am done with it. I love Auburn University but honestly I couldn't give two shits about any of the "athletes" or teams anymore.

It’s like back in grade school when you would pick teams at every recess. The only way to put a stop to this crap is for us the fans to quit going to games and quit watching, and I don’t see that happening. I am definitely not as interested as I used to be befotgus crap started.

How can anyone be invested in the athletes? They always seem to have one foot out the door? And as a result, over time, I think I've grown increasingly apathetic to the game. I also don't see that changing and that in its own right is sad.

My daughter will be a freshman in the fall. I will buy season tickets for the 4 years she is in school and then I am probably out.

I canceled my streaming service in late November. The only reason I subscribed was to watch CFB games.
As CFB slipped into free agency, it lost its appeal to many longtime football fans.

This is where I’m at. I go to maybe one game a year … and by going, 1/2 I don’t even make it into the stadium (I’d stay and tailgate or run over to Chimes, WalkOns).
The other 1/2 when I make it, I’m usually leaving TS by the end of the 3rd quarter at the latest.
I don’t watch all of LSU’s games either. Many times, the game is on as background noise while I’m throwing something on the BGE, drinking a glass of wine or an old fashioned and having a cigar.
I rarely watch other team’s games.
And LMFAO if LSU ever expects me to donate to their NIL. I’d rather us suck arse and go 0-12 before they got meaningful money from me for NIL.

Well its still fun, mostly. Its a fun social event. Its an excuse for people to get together, drink, socialize and share a rooting interest. It can be extremely broken and people will still tune in for a long time.
The sad part is if it were just frat boys playing...the stadiums would still be full. It was never about the players, it was about the shared community of fans having a rooting interest. Greed of the universities and activist rogue judges broke the sport.
Go watch some big bowl games from the 90s on YT. I watched some of the 95 Fiesta Bowl...man that was peak fun college football

Like some others have mentioned, I still watch CFB because I like football and the games can be entertaining but I can’t ever see myself living and dying week to week like the old days.
Even if NU ever became consistently competitive again, most years at least half the team will just be a bunch of short term guys wearing the laundry I root for.

Agreed. I notice the banter and animosity between fan bases has significantly died down too. The “passion” and fire for it is nowhere near the same as it was 15 or so years ago.
