I'm trying to remember a time when I saw significant rain at the Rose Bowl. I really can't think of any.

Hasn't happened since 1955 (70 years). It rained lightly during the 1st quarter of the Ohio State/Utah game I believe they said.

The last significant rain during the Rose Parade was 2006.........but it didn't rain during the game because that was the year of the USC/Texas game and (as we know from our Texas game) the BCS Title Game version of the Rose Bowl was not on New Years Day (January 4th).

ROSE BOWL UPDATE: Thursday morning looks very wet in the Los Angeles area, including Pasadena. Rain is likely (and possibly a thunderstorm) for the Tournament of Roses parade. A flash flood watch is in effect; rain amounts of 1-2 inches are possible.

High resolution models continue to suggest the bulk of the widespread rain will be over by kickoff (1p PT); we will still mention the risk of a shower or two during the game with temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s.

The Rose Bowl field supposedly has a very good and high-tech drainage system installed, so despite the heavy rain earlier in the day, I imagine the field should be in pretty good shape.

ROSE BOWL: Marginal risk (level 1/5) of severe thunderstorms for Los Angeles tomorrow, along with a low end tornado threat. A flash flood watch is also in effect.

High resolution models continue to suggest the most widespread rain will come tomorrow morning, with just a few spotty showers around during the Rose Bowl.

Almost no wind. 1-2 mph, so probably less than we are used to

I did a slight deep dive. It looks like the rain will start around 10:45 AM, by game time it’s a 65% chance and then drops roughly 10% per hour. My hope is by halftime it’s almost nothing. No wind is a great thing.

Don’t know if you’re out here yet, but it’s raining now already. Hoping it gets it all out of its system.

These fools can’t drive in the rain so it going to make getting anywhere the next couple of days impossible

Ok so forecast from the locals and I shite you not. The sun is supposed to break the clouds right at game time and stay until the late evening. Jesus has spoken.

They showed it's covered by a pretty thick tarp so I don't think it'll be too bad.

Yep I’m watching TV in the room. Slept like shite. Forecast is showing rain stops around 2 hours prior to kickoff. Keep the field covered as long as humanly possible. If thats the case we should be good.

They shouldn’t need to uncover until 2hrs before kickoff I imagine.
