I have no idea how BYU fields a competitive football team.

It may not be a requirement anymore, but in the past a student athlete at BYU had to go on a two year mission for the Mormon church before they could even play. That’s why the majority of their players are about 24 or 25 years old imagine spending your first two years in college riding around on a bicycle going door-to-door telling people about the Mormon Jesus before you will ever play down a football. how in the world were they ever competitive?

Mormons are insanely devout. And they do go on 2 year missions so they have a shite ton of 24 year olds

I think they make a lot of exceptions. Doubt their top dollar NIL basketball roster this year even knows it's a Mormon school.

Yep. I'm pretty sure Jim McMahon went on some booze-fueled missionary work back in the day.
He was raised Catholic (not Mormon), so you know he did some drinking.

I don't know but I have enjoyed watching them today... This has been a good game

Other way around ... before NIL.
BYU had an exemption regarding age and eligibility. They had plenty - PLENTY - of 23 and 24 year old big boys that did a mission because they were not big enough to play in the NFL at 22.

They don’t. They win a lot of games against programs with no history of winning except against similarly situated teams. They’d be Mississippi State in the SEC.

It is awesome and BYU is the only university I know of that mentions Jesus in their game video.

Pretty dismissive take of BYU, imo.
Especially when one considers their qb lineage and innovation in the passing game under Lavell Edwards.
Try getting out of your SEC bubble now and then. The cfb world is a big place.

It's all nonsense, so who cares
My favorite are the camera shots of the students at games. Whitest kids you'll ever see

I don’t know but watching the Pop Tart celebration for the winner was nuts and fun. Hahaha.

You’ll have to forgive Jawja fans. Football wasn’t around before 2021 for a lot of them.

Even the homeless people I saw in Salt Lake City were dressed from The Gap.

The CFB world is indeed a big place. BYU is 62nd of 136 of winningest programs. They have 3 more wins all time than Vanderbilt. You are 100% correct that I was mistaken when I compared BYU to Mississippi State. They’re closer to Vandy.
