Former Auburn quarterback TJ Finley aspires to be the top option at the quarterback position for an FBS program and will not stop working until the dream is achieved.
Finley shared on social media Monday that he plans to use a season-ending injury sustained during the 2024 season as leverage to gain a seventh season of eligibility. If the extra year is granted, he then plans to enter the transfer portal to play for his seventh program.
In a post on Instagram, Finley says that balancing fatherhood, injuries, and adversity over the last two seasons has challenged him. However, his love of football has never wavered.
"I thank God for carrying me through the storm and allowing me to put everything behind me as I move forward to 2026. I'm focused, healthy, and motivated. I look forward to finishing my career at a University that gives me an opportunity to compete, lead, and finish strong. The story isn't over."
Finley played quarterback for Auburn during the 2021 and 2022 seasons after playing the 2020 season at LSU. He completed 103-of-181 passes for 1,258 yards and seven touchdowns on the Plains and rushed for -3 yards on 37 attempts with two scores. Following his time at Auburn, Finley played for Texas State, Western Kentucky, and Georgia State. He transferred to Tulane during the spring of 2025, but was suspended indefinitely following an arrest.
Finley has appeared in 41 games during his collegiate career. He has passed for 7,372 yards and 43 touchdowns while adding 69 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

Funny how things work out. If Finley wasn't arrested and booted off the team, Tulane probably doesn't land the starter from BYU and would not have sniffed the playoffs.

What is the max you can make while receiving social security before you have to pay back monies?
I think it’s about $22,000.

Who needs the NFL when you can have a whole career in CFB?

Tj Finley was great against south Carolina. I thought he was gonna be special.
I also picked lagway to breakout this year.

I was wondering if NIL and/or revenue sharing will make these guys eligible for Disability after they've blown everything out playing a "college" game.

Then they can have a handicap car tag and park close so they can get out of their F-250 and bounce to the gym or first tee.
I’m amazed at the number of handicap stickers that when they pop out of the car they have tremendous mobility.

He's such a bust. I love to see this. No loyalty whatsoever. Fails to look in the mirror and think "maybe I'm the problem".

And of course there's no way he could graduate because he hasn't stayed anywhere long enough to meet the residency requirements for graduation. I know the "student" part of student athlete has always been something of an inside joke, but this is friggin ridiculous and it's like the NCAA has said "frick it" to the idea of players being students working toward a degree. Also says something about the school that would take him.

He must be getting close to finishing his Medical Doctorate Degree.

Is that even allowed? Apparently he’s never happy at one location.
