There are legit reasons to drop the game in the playoff era. Are we going to have years where there are 2-4 SEC champions?

There were years where tie breakers were used to pick who went to the Sugar Bowl before the first SEC Title Game in 1992.
3 teams tied in '89 and BAMA went to the Sugar Bowl.

This is how it used to be. Probably less logjams like this year if there are gonna be 9 games

I really don't see them going away. They make way too much money.

Just handle it like they did from the beginning of the SEC until 1992
Will have Co-Champs some years

UGA will be the permanent SEC Champion

I don’t think a serious program would hang a banner without going to an actual championship game

Boy if they do, y'all are gonna love UTerus....

Look on the bright side…drop the title game and y'all never have to endure interlopers Texas or Oklahoma winning a real SEC title.

That's cool. I'm glad UGA will be remembered as the last SEC champion...

Make every team play 11 in conference games and then have a 4 team SEC playoff.
Edit: this is after inviting FSU, Clemson, VT and another lucky ACC team into the SEC.

aggy will print cups no matter what since they can't seem to even play for a CCG, so...sure, why not.

It will go to tie breakers like we used to seat teams this year. Having 4/5 teams in the playoff is more money than one sec cg featuring two teams.

How do you think that SEC championships were made before 1992.

Back in the day there were no tiebreakers. Head-to-head didn't matter.
Georgia went 5-1 in 1976. Kentucky went 6-2. Georgia beat Kentucky. Mississippi State also beat Kentucky. Mississippi State pissed off the wrong person and got put on probation two years later and had to forefeit all wins. SEC officially went back and named Kentucky as co-champs.

anyone that wants to drop the conference championship game is a fricking moron.
we need to drop the polls.
make 1 and 4 and 2 and 3 of each conference play each other in the first round.
second round is conference championship.
each conference champion plays one of the other 3 conference champions.
the two winners play each other for the natty.
again, it's not fricking hard.
it's an unbiased solution that's based on what happens on the field.
