In developing your plan, the following must be considered.
1. Keep Conference Championship Games Relevant.
2. Promote inter regional play Ie. Texas vs OSU.
3. Include all P4 and G5 schools.
4. Have Championship game on Saturday night not Monday Night.
5. Structure such that playing tough games improves chances of making playoff.
6. Go to 32 playoff field.
7. Most important, what would be method for seeding the 32 teams?

How would you make the above work?

32 is wayyyy too many. Nowhere close to my perfect playoff scenario.

My perfect is a 6 team. 1st round bye for 1 and 2.

Have a HUGE conference realignment that ends with 6 power conferences.

Winners get ranked with a computer not a committee with an agenda.

Relegation system between P6 and the leftovers

This is the cleanest way that returns alot of excitement to both the regular season and the postseason.

12 is the perfect number. They just need to go with the 12 highest ranked teams and leave out all auto-bids.

Also, the G5 needs their own tournament and stay out of ours.

Don’t see how this could work. Please explain.

Does your idea eliminate controversy? I want a system that takes the selection out of the power brokers hands. I don’t know how but to me it should be an on the field real matchup determination.

Go back to divisions, have multiple games to determine conf champ etc. then a tourney of conf champs for natty.

Totally eliminate committee

Respectfully, I don’t see that working.

Four teams where 2-3 & 1-4 play each other in the semi's. The log-jam of one-loss teams gets decided by a formula using SOS, head 2 head & winning your conference championship.

Whatever scenario should incorporate the BCD formula. It wasn’t perfect but it sure as hell was better than the committee.

Go more NFL. Realign conferences into eight super conferences. Divide each conference into two divisions. Best record in each division gets into championship game. Each champion is in playoff. Top two records get 1st round bye, tie breakers like scoring difference, opponent W-L, etc.

Never would happen but takes the human element and emotions out.

Why not? Not enough good teams to keep 6 conferences balanced? Maybe. But the talent won't have a far to spread. G5 football prob goes the way of the FCS but outside of select alumni of those schools. Who cares? I'll take some time at some point tonight to construct the conferences.

I don’t think there is anything that can be done to create a perfect playoff scenario.

The system in place actually worked as designed, there are far too many teams in CFB to set up a NFL style system.

Excluding the G5 teams to create a super conference league would immediately result in major lawsuits that under current antitrust laws the super conferences would lose.

Going to a BCS style selection process would not fix anything The BCS was just as broken, if not more so, as the current system.

As long as ND is an independent, their outsized influence will cause turmoil.

In the grand scheme of things, our current situation is the less fricked solution.

How did this get 2 downvotes? Tulane and JMU fans need to move on.
