I don’t want to see duke anymore than anyone else but if your team won the conference wouldn’t you be pissed if they were left out? Especially when you’re talking about JMU being in, even though they’ve done great. That would be a kick in the balls with no reward for a power 4 team.

What a mess.

Agree…conference championship game should be automatic. Really…we need to go back to just voting in a national champion or two team playoff. Indiana and Georgia for all of the marbles.

I still stand by 8 team playoff with 4 conf championships as first round. Which would put Duke in. Alabama would be done and Georgia moving on. As Indiana has shown it doesn’t need to be bigger, anyone can make it and NIL era is moving away from traditional powers bringing new participants.

This board is seriously arguing that a team that lost to Illinois by 26, lost to UConn, finished 8-5, and had only one ranked win (over VIRGINIA in overtime) deserves to be in over Alabama/ND/Miami…

A true meeting of the minds here.

buckeye fan 19- exactly right. no way Tulane or JMU belong in the playoffs when Texas and Alabama would crush both of them. This playoff setup is a joke.

Yeah this thread is a terrorist attack on critical thinking.

They changed the rules for this one argument. An unranked team shouldn't be able to win their CC and get an automatic in. Thats why they changed it to the highest 5 ranked CCs.

Preach. What are we doing if this is "okay?"

Because Kennesaw State and Western Michigan would have to go before Duke. They also won their conference championships and have helluva lot better records.

Plus they squeaked into the Conference Championship game because of a tiebreaker between 5 other teams.

ranked doesn't mean top 25. If for example JMU wasn't ranked the committee continues to rank the teams until they find the 5th champ. Could be #30 and still get in.

Don't blame fans that look at the rules and follow them.

If a CFPC has rules or qualifications set in place then why be mad?

Hypothetical here, because I don't set or know the exact qualifications set by the committee......

#1 Qualification: Win your conference championship and you get an automatic CFP spot.

Something like that seems pretty straightforward. But you all want more, like.....

#28.7 Qualification: If you win your conference championship, but lost other games, then we have the right to not allow that champion in the CFP.

Because they aren't one of the top 5 ranked conference champions.

JMU is ranked higher at 11-1 than Duke is at 8-5, so they're in instead.

JMU isn’t power 4 and whatever ranking you’re talking about is irrelevant as it gets evaluated every week. Duke would beat JMU if they played.

This board has always been full of retards. This is the time of year when they come out en masse proudly flaunting their low iq’s.

The playoff selection is literally set so that the top 5 conference champs in FBS (regardless of if they're in a "P4 conference" or not) get a playoff spot.

It's not the P4 champs plus one other conference champion. It's the top 5 conference champions.

This year the ACC champion lost games to Tulane, Illinois, GT, UCONN and UVA (in the regular season).

They aren't one of the top 5 conference champions.

They should. All the conference champs should be in. Whatever spots left go to at large teams seeded by committee.

Those of you that have never seen your team win a Natty must iunderstand that a rational Bama fan knows this years version of the Crimson Tide is very flawed. They have overplayed and underplayed to their ability.

A great team whose National Title ready, doesn’t run hot and cold like this years team.

No, I don’t believe Bama deserves a spot. The SEC Title game in my mind is a defacto semi final Natty game. We lost.

A date with the Michigan Wolverines in the Citrus Bowl awaits! We owe them

Good luck Dogs! Bring the Natty back to the SEC!
