Great video. Super informative. Makes sense. Makes me think that Jackson Arnold would actually have a good chance in an offense like this. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad he’s not going to be the guy, but it sure fits his skill set better than Freeze’s offense. Goes without saying that Deuce would KILL in this offense. And Jeremiah Cobb would too.

An offense where receivers are encouraged to take plays off? That fits our personnel perfectly.

Well, good thing this is freaking college and not pros, although the NFL does use some of these same concepts at times obviously

It’s basically a hot route. The entire team knows where the ball is going and they aren’t involved in the play. What do you want them to do, sprint down the field for the hell of it? Haha

I had the same opinion until they mentioned how they use that an advantage and catch the defense sleeping

After watching that, it's hard to believe that's a run heavy offense.

It is an offense where you take what the defense gives you. Most teams would rather give up 5 yards than a 70 yard pass

Interesting the autonomy it gives the receivers to make a choice of route on the fly given the look they’re getting. I got the sense that Freeze had set routes for his receivers and if they didn’t get open, welp, then Jackson Arnold gets swallowed whole. Probablyb why Kodi is coming with. Seems it would take a WR coach with some wattage to coach those concepts. Marcus Davis is a good WR recruiter but I don’t get the sense that he is splitting atoms over there.

Our receivers seemed to have way more drops Lt year than I can ever remember. Marcus Davis isn’t teaching something right. It was all receivers WR, TE, RB

Yeah, it really puts pressure on that OLB/S/NB playing the slot receiver split out so wide. He goes wide, you run it. He tries to get close to help with the run, the throw goes to that slot guy who will run right by him.

That looks to be a huge presnap key in just reading that one guy. And spreading the formation out like that really stresses that position.

I noticed during the IB that we lined up spread way out with 4 and 5 wide a lot more. However, most of the time, they would fake a snap, check with the sideline and then move a few yards closer to center of the formation. I kept asking what purpose that could serve and have yet to come up with an answer other than it made the offense easier to defend. It was so dumb.

Not gonna lie…. Never knew the hashes were different in the nfl and college. Learn something new everyday but yea this looks like a fun offense to play in

If I see a video like that and I’m Eric Singleton I’m thinking “I’m gonna EAT in this offense!”

It's easy to think it's a finesse offense because of the deep shots and the wide formations, but the same offense sent Dylan Sampson to Cleveland.

I'm also interested to learn how Golesh has made it his own compared to Heupel. Heupel was a QB, but Golesh has been coaching TEs most of his career and started on defense. I was listening to a national college football podcast this week where they described Golesh as a "defensive coach's soul in an offensive coach's body".

Agreed. We wasted some serious talent at WR this year. Imagine what good coaching would have done with this bunch.

Golesh has had a 50/50 offense everywhere he has been.

The great thing about the veer and shoot is that it limits the blitz packages to a great degree. And with that, the OL can be coached to think less and focus on being physical as hell

Everyone thinks less. It’s a complicated game, that is broken down into very simple concepts. If a guy does this, do this. If he does that, do that. And practice that over and over again
