LSU isn't a blue blood, and yet...

Ole Miss has to feel about 2 inches tall tonight getting your hot date stolen at the prom dance.
LSU said, "Lane let's get out of here and go drink some tall boys behind an abandoned car wash where the pot holes are 6 inches deep and you have to dodge street walkers and drug dealers" (about as charitable of a description one can give of BR) while Ole Miss was about to take the stage as one of the Prom King finalist.
Seriously, how do you recover from this as a brand? The optics are awful. The implication of value, status, etc.
Ole Miss has learned that it can do everything right and still is a third tier brand. That has to sting more than anything.

Welcome to the SEC.
I'm looking forward to evening up the series record with "blue blood" Texas next season in Tiger Stadium.

LSU is a power program that can win natties and Ole Miss isn't.
NIL and the portal have changed things a bit but nowhere near the level that some folks want to believe.

College football in a nutshell. I love it, but it caters to the same programs ad nauseam (for better or worse)
Look at programs like Houston and Tulane that can never keep promising coaches.

TX talking bout “blue bloods” when everyone here sees them as perpetually dysfunctional new kid on the block… struggling to adjust to being in a bigger pond… pleading a case for a playoff spot with three Ls & one of them vs Florida lol.
LSU is a charter school with a more recent natty than you. Sit down ya burnt orange bitch, y’all ain’t earned shite here.

Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State. Michigan, USC, and Notre Dame are the SIX True Bluebloods. Texas is not one of them!

Austin's a fricking shithole where you have to dodge homeless people shite like youre in Portland and Texas has won nothing of note in 20 years.
Don't want to lose sight of those facts in this shuffle

LSU:
4 Titles: 1958, 2003, 2007, 2019
Heisman Winners: 3
Winning Percentage: .645
Bowl Record: 30-24
Playoff Record: 2-0
Texas:
4 Titles: 1963, 1969, 1970, 2005
Heisman Winners: 2
Winning Percentage: .705
Bowl Record: 33-27
Playoff Record: 2-2
Ok now please tell me how Texas is any more of a “blueblood” than LSU. Please tell me.

The point is that LSU is drunk and passed out in a ditch in 2025 and yet still able to snag your coach who is responsible for the greatest season in Ole Miss history.
He'd rather quit mid-season, before the playoffs start with probably a ~20% to win a Natty as one of the 5 teams with a serious shot at winning for a chance to start 0-0 next year with LSU.
That's a referendum on the Ole Miss brand, culture, potential, past-present-future, and perception of value.
Ole Miss will never be more than a regional team that has a generational run every once and again is what Lane is validating. Which is all the more damning because he was mostly responsible for that generational run this year.

Blue Blood is the dumbest shite ever. If it was a serious banner it would evict USCw and Nebraska for starters
