SEC Final Report Card:
Another regular season in the books. So here’s my final assessment.
Miss State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina
Combined these teams managed to win 20 games and lose 40.
Grade F
LSU: 7-5
They’re bowl eligible, about all you can say positive. At one point this season they were ranked as high as #4 in the country. But it all fell apart. But no worries my bayou bengal friends.. Kiffen is on the way to save the day. I hope he doesn’t disappoint you. (I think he will).
Grade: D
Tennessee: 8-4
At most places 8-4 is a pretty good year, but I’d imagine that the Hillbillies of east Tenn are growing impatient. Josh Heupal (Bobby Hill) has to be feeling some heat. Especially after the beat down they took yesterday to Vandy.
Grade: C+
Missouri: 8-4
Season started great, but playing 6 straight home games to open helps. Obviously losing you QB for weeks in the middle doesn’t help. But overall a pretty good season.
Grade B-
Vanderbilt 10-2
Greatest season in decades .. Diego Pavia is absolutely the best player in Modern Vandy football. He’s Michael Meyers from Halloween. Everytime you think you’ve killed him off, he gets up and keeps coming at you. If I had a Heisman vote, he’d get mine.
I think it’s a travesty that Vandy isn’t getting in the playoff .. because they are one of the best 12 teams in America.
Grade: A+
Oklahoma: 10-2
Offense is atrocious , defense is championship caliber. They are in the playoffs, thats all that matters .
Grade: A
Texas: 9-3
The horns are screaming they belong in the playoffs .. i disagree . They absolutely have some fantastic wins.. but they have 3 regular season losses and had to go to overtime to beat Kentucky and Miss St.
But Sarks right…. They and every other SEC team should cancel any future games against power 4 teams with a pulse. Strength of schedule doesn’t matter apparently and with 9 conference games coming it’s pointless to play out of conference games against good teams .
Grade: B-
Texas A&M: 11-1
Fantastic year, but fortunate to have played 7 of the bottom eight teams in the SEC. Before playing Texas… their league opponents were 11-41. But you can’t control your schedule and they beat everyone on it till the end.
Grade: A+
Ole Miss:11-1
Greatest season in the Moden era.
The Rebels haven’t been this good since the sport was integrated in the late 60’s early 70’s.
I think they had a chance to make some noise in the playoffs , but with Lane existing out the side door.. who knows now. (I think he’ll live to regret leaving btw)
Grade: A++
Auburn: 5-7
They lost 6 conference games by a touchdown or less. Lost by 10 to Georgia and I don’t need to remind my Auburn friends of how that game played out.
The defense is championship level and in the last few weeks they’ve shown life on offense.
I know fans cringed everytime Freeze said “we’re close”… but he was right.
Winning is a mindset .. and honestly Auburn no longer has it. They used too.. but the musical chairs in coaching changes and lack of continuity in the program has destroyed the mystic somehow.
Hiring Harsin, then Freeze were huge mistakes. If I’m an Auburn guy, I’d promote Durkin and roll with it. I think hes a solid coach , hes tough and hardnosed.. He’s the kind of coach Auburn can win with … they have in the past.
Auburn played their guts out last night .. they have all year. But they don’t know how to win anymore.
Grade: F
The only thing left is Bama v Georgia in Atlanta …

I feel like we deserve at least a B+. Going 7-1 in the SEC (and unbeaten in a 3-game roadtrip) is far from an easy task.

Interesting. You gave out final grades before some teams have taken their final exam.
If Vandy gets in and makes a deep post season run, they sure as hell won't finish at B-.

Based on what I heard from the ESPN announcers, Bama could be eliminated by Georgia.
The committee pretty much does what ESPN tells them to do.
ESPN would much rather hype a two loss Miami with Beck or a two loss Vandy with Pavia.
The motivation for Georgia is to try to eliminate Bama from the playoffs.

Vandy got an A+ .. what you talking bout?

LSU’s season is a total failure. We spent a shite ton of money on a roster, with a veteran QB who was a preseason heisman contender, and a HC who told everyone this was a national title contender.
I don’t care if they’re playing in the pop tart bowl. If we could get below an F I’d give it to us.

Fair take. I also don't think we belong...but I'm also sad that this is probably going to end great OOC games in the future. No program will think it's worth it.

Going to 9 SEC games is idiotic.. we just added 9 more losses to SEC teams. It’s crazy

ok you know I want Sark gone. I am not a Sark defender....but I saw a coach who was simply fighting for his team and telling him he believes in them. It's pointless because we aren't going, but, of all the things I hate about Sark, this is not one of them.
but I want him to leave.
You're also right. I don't know a single Horn personally that thinks we should be in. We all know we lost that right the day we lost to Florida but it's also fair to ask if playing teams like OSU is worth it going forward.
but you have to beat florida. You surrender your argument the day you lose that game if other teams have fewer losses.

You need to score 100% for an A+. Nobody gets that.
Also, Arkansas should be F-

Not to mention another game against a team full of NFL talent and injury risk while teams like OSU sleepwalk to the playoffs while playing no one. It's stupid, especially if they keep the SECCG
